ive been with tiscali for a year now and have had probs with chat p2p limewire gaming and emails since the restictions went on ive rang shouted and cursed tiscalis very unhelpful technical team ,until i had enough and on monday 9th of may requested my mac code,which i got via email 35 minutes later at pm and guess wot !!!!!!since ive received my mac code i have no restrictions i rang tiscali asking why all of a sudden i can get on all the programmes i couldnt get on b4 my mac code alas the lovely lady in support had no idea (she was british )which made a change from being fobbed off however she has advised me to after the 30 days of me having the mac code just to request anither one and if need be just keep requesting it i dont know if it will stay like this but we are keeping our fingers crossed so maybe its time u requested ur mac code from tiscali and just see what happens wot have u got to lose its not like u can get on chat anyways after4 hope u get results if u decide to take this path xxxxxxxxxxx
Thanks for the tip Pussy, we will be trying it as it's doing our heads in at the mo, I take it it's ok to ask for the mac code? it doesnt mean they stop your connection or anything like that?
Well, I have to say that I've never experienced any problems getting into the chatroom until today. It's not limited to just the SH chatroom, though - seems to be affecting all flash-based chatrooms or client-server applications (can't get into faceparty chat or even isketch).
Have any other tiscali users had similar problems appear today?
Yes I'm having problems tonight, can't get into chat at all.

Think you have something here. I had been having major problems with Tiscali for the past couple of weeks and I couldn't access the chat rooms last week at all. I spoke to Tiscali earliet this week, got my MAC code and hey presto...everything is now working perfectly. Even discovered that Tiscali have Technical Support in this country ...but it would appear that you only get to speak to them if you threaten to leave!
interesting to see the problems you have been having with your service provider.
Just see you understand the mac code is needed when you remove to a new internet service or you could be without net for around 3 weeks.
The mac code is your right,you have the right to ask for you do it should only take about 3 days for bt to provide that code to your current service you go to your new provider and give them the code.
I had the same problems with aol and you should have seen the offers i was given to stay with were prepared to cut my bill by over £25 a month but service is what you pay for and i moved to sky broadband for £10 a month and its better.

well we requested our mac code over a week ago but still havent recieved it!! but guess what....... since we asked for it we have had no probs with the chat room or connection (touch wood!!!) very strange but we are not complaining!!! thanks Pussy xxx
a internet supplier did the same for some customers.
Those who had unlimited internet access for some reason had accounts changed to limited access so for one month lots of people could not use the net and access was suddenly limited.
Lots complained about it and when the next calendar month came round everyone got access back.
I think Bt charges these providers for the amount used by its customers so if that company can reduce its bill then cutting customers access and calling it a techincal fault is one way round it is the hard part.
But your right in saying as soon as you ask for your mac code things tend to improve.
