why cannot i get into the chat room , when we try to log in it just says ,, auth failed undefined
never had this problem before
i have same prob as stockinglegs says auth failed undefined had this message all day raised a ticket but still no joy
Most commonly this problem crops up when the chat room can't read which member from the site you are, no username is known, and the authorisation fails.
Within the past 24 hours I've received 4 tickets from members with the same problem, including the ticket from you eddy17 (thanks). We've not changed any thing from our end, so we need to work out the common relation on your end, it could be an automatic software update that has now triggered this.
What ISP (Internet Service Provider) are you using and do you have any security programs installed, such as McAfee, Zone Alarm, PC Guard/Kaspersky etc?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Update:
Two users have now resolved this problem. It may be worth mentioning that both were using Internet Explorer 6.
The first solution was to install an alternative browser, , and the second was a system roll back.
I'm getting the same and I know the only change to my system was an update from Microsoft to fix Internet Explorer versions 6,7 and 8.
These things are frequently called "security updates for Windows XP" (or Vista) and are very commonly installed without you knowing about it. They usually do more good than harm and I'd suggest you don't change the settings on your computer.
However, if you want to remove this update, you'll need to open the Control Panel and seek out the 'Add or Remove Programs' icon. Once this has finished listing everything you have (it may take a few moments to complete), tick the option to "Show Updates" - again, this will take a moment or two. Now you'll be able to select the entry called "Security update for Windows XP (KB972260)" and you'll be able to remove it.
However, be aware that removing this update could increase your exposure to remote attack over the 'net - it was released in order to repair a weakness that hackers have been exploiting since the beginning of the month*.
I don't know of an alternative solution at the moment; you can always use an alternative browser but IE is a habit many people don't want to chnage from - myself included - but if I do work out how to keep the update and get IE working, I'll post.
In the meantime, go and do something more useful with your time and stop chatting! ;-)

It worked for me too. Thank you in awe of u
seems like im having same problem as everyone else not allowing me in chatrooms ...undefined....
You may have your settings on your pc set to automatic update and what that means is that microshaft have updated your pc to the latest update and one of them was the problem that stops you getting in here.
Try restoring your pc to a couple of days ago to when you didn't get the error message and if that works then that's your problem.
Or if you don't wish to restore it ,just search in your add remove programs for the update KB972260 that is causing the problem and uninstall that, then make sure you tick the box on your update settings to not show that update again.
if you are having trouble signing in to the chat room on internet explore 6
try download firefox and use that explore you will have to problem at all

Try restoring your pc back a few days until you didn't have the chat room problem, then add your updates one at a time.
Check chat and find out if you still can't get in,that way you will be able to narrow it down to whatever update has caused your particular problem.
have deleted update as told to but still the same any ideas

I have down loaded windows updates recently and since I have had trouble in chat rooms with the chat that keeps stopping.
Does anyone know a recent update that might be causing this to happen?
I had to take my system back to a prior date as somehow I lost my E drive, that has been reinstalled, then I rerun all the windows updates, and now am having this problem.
Thanks for any help offered.
I have tried to get into the chatroom and got the same authorisation failure message. However, Ann can get in from her laptop on the same account. We both have the same updates.
