At the moment the beta version isn't running on our server cluster, parts run on the third party developers server and it has to communicate with our servers, one of the reasons that its not as quick as it will be.
Whenever the link to the Beta room appears it fills up quickly as there's a limit of 80 on it, like anything new its buggy and after the painful lessons in the early days we would rather run more tests, do the fixes before replacing things rather than throw them in and hope for the best.
So when the Beta room appears if you can get in there, try and break it and let us know what went wrong.

Warming the Bed
apar from havein one more cam which is excellent the rest of the new chat is absolutly horrible gone are the clean uncluttered lines gone is the ability to see at a glance who is on cam the whole thing is just like every other new computer fad messy overly complicated and impractical ditch it please

i like the overal packagel.... but one question i have to ask....
are viewing cams going to be one of those things that is going to come under the "extra's" package...
if that is the case why would anyone without the package then want to go on cam if they know they are not going to see people back??

Only the second cam and one of the reasons for that is the bandwidth limits/costs associated with the flash communictaion server.

does the block user facility only apply to whispers... or does it apply to people watching your cam????
why is that one not free... shame because probably everyone at some point has been plagues by directors and constant whisperers.....

I walked past Currys the other day they had one of those HD televisions in a sale, to be honest I was disapointed that it wasn't free.........I mean ffs a buisness having the nerve to charge for things :shock:
Put it in perspective I've just had a quick scan through the thread and the majority of those who are unhappy that the new features are in the extras package are free members, thats 50 quid a year your saving now extras cost 25 quid (I think) so if you get it your getting a 75 quid package for nearly a third of the usual price. Sounds like a pretty fucking good deal to me

take a look at what we are looking at...you have complined in the past in threads about the directing and whispering that poshkate gets when she goes in the chatroom.... so they have brought out something to solve a lot of the problems that we ALL have, and would stamp out a lot of the problem associated in the chatroom in one fouls swoop.... the oppotunity to block out the people who make the whole experiece not as good as it should be.
why should that be an extra? should that have been something that maybe should have been sorted out at the beginning....
if it had then maybe people wouldn't have resorted to making there own rooms and passwording it, as the original reason given was that it was where people felt most comfortable due to the whispering and directing....

Just checked and PK has been on cam 3 times in her life all of them when I've been here and she has never been directed and whispers were never a problem as I'd boot em or her acid tongue would cure them
The point I was makeing is its a buisness they have just spent months developing the chat room. I don't remember Apple doing the same with the I pod only to give it away
and if whispers were a problem for us we can certainly afford 25 quid to cure it

It's cost a bluddy fortune to get this new chatroom developed, I really can't see that it's so awful or mean that they want to recoup some of this money?
The features of the site people have had, hasn't changed, you still get it, nothing has been taken away from em - you still get that, for many, still free..... so basically, your SH site doesn't have to change dynamics at all, just carry on as you were.
But if you want the new features, then why not pay - they're not features that are gonna separate the SH community, they're just gadgety type things
If your experience is really that terrible you need these new gadgets then buy em? But without em, the chat experience isn't gonna be any less than what you have now!....I presume :?

the main reason i purchased extras was to be able to get into the chat rooms without problems via the extras lounge, ok soi that cost me an extra £25 to make my visit to site easier. Now with the new chat room giving me more options for my £25 i feel a whole lot better when i see people complaining they not geting everything for free as they been on site forever. The cost of working and hosting this site, (and I think its one of the best ive ever been on) , must be alot, so if you want the extras pay £25 i had too like many others ontop of the £50 annual fee. I like the look of new chat room and i think it will be a great improvement, shame they didnt add the option to op another person in room so that when you leave your chatroom you hosted, somebody else is able to take control who you trust. But for my extra 50p a week which isnt a lot in this day an age im looking forward to my new chat experience and well done to all those concerned in trying to improve and upgrade my chat experience. thank you, looking forward to finished article.

Given all of the above it's a bit difficult to judge it properly but i guess it'll be good when it's all working properly, lets hope so anyway.
