just brought a web cam and it works on msn but not on sh as anybody got any ideas

Your cam can not be connected to both msn and the rom at the same time.
So once you click on cam icon in room use left mouse button and chose settings on the drop down menu then click on small icon of a web cam and make sure your cam is listed in there.
Close menu and your cam should work.

You should take a look at ebuyer - they have quite a few cheap cams starting at £4. I doubt they are that advanced, but you can't complain at the price.
