Is there anyone thats got the time to explain the basics of how to navigate round the chat rooms and ebter the no directing ones, is it only by invite. Also what do the coloured symbols mean next to the usernames. There seems to be the same headings, dometimes for days and theres no on in them or not necessarily members that fit the descriptions. Finally (thanx for the patience), is it easy to sei up your own chat room specifically for use with another member/s, oh and also how is the extras chat room different from the rest. Thanks for any tips and starters.
you can enter any chatroom you want to, the only ones you can't go into are the ones that have a red padlock next to them ....these rooms have been set up by ppl who want to chat 1 to 1 with someone else and have a password.
the coloured symbols next to ppl's names indicate wether they are male (blue) female (pink) or a couple (blue and pink).
the rooms that are usually there day after day on all 4 servers are admin set up rooms ...when you enter the chatrooms you go into one of these then navigate to the room/server of your choice.
it's easy to set up your own room, for general use by everyone (it does help if you have a grasp off the chatroom rules)..to set up a private room just ad a password. once in the chatroom there's a button with "create" on it this is where you set a room up if you want it private add a password( you'll have to tell the other person who you want to chat to it) if you want everyone to come in leave the password bit empty.
Just to add a couple of things to creams post.
The small coloured symbols next to the chatters name are their sex ie. Single blue male symbol= single male, Single
pinksymbol=single female One of each colour= a couple.
If the symbols are cross shaped then they are extra members, i.e they have a couple of more features.
A chat ops has a yellow star next to their name and is always at the top of the chatters list.
Admin have a small yellow faced man symbol wearing sunglasses.
The other thing you asked about which doesn't seem to have been responded to yet is rooms that don't appear to have people in them that match the name of the room.
Some of the room names as previously mentioned (e.g. Pool, Jacuzzi) are the default ones that are always there. Other ones are created by members. There are no restrictions on the site as to who can go into a room, unless the room is password-protected (has the red padlock next to it), in which case only those who know the password can get in.
For example, if you see a room called "John o'Groats meets - couples only", there is nothing to stop singles also going into the room. The reason for this is that there is no admission restriction based upon who or what you are (e.g. black/white/asian, gay/straight, couple/single etc).
If you're thinking about setting up your own room, you also need to be aware of what's expected of you as a room host. Lots of useful information and (more importantly) the rules about how to use the chatroom are available here: http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/chatroom/user-rules.html
There is also an Acceptable Use Policy that covers more general site usage: http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/main/aup.html
Two key things about any room:
- By default, rooms are assumed to allow directing unless the room title includes "no directing". This means people should not direct, ask, coerce etc anyone on cam to do something specific if it says not to direct
- No whispering (a private message to an individual) is allowed in any room without asking in the main chat whether it's ok and getting a "yes" beforehand. These topics are explained in the chatroom rules (link above)
If you have any further specific questions, ask them in here - lots of people are always happy to help out. Welcome to the mad-house!! wink

rolleyes lol
What was wrong with the original?
I said "no whispering...is allowed" which is the same as "whispering is not allowed".
rolleyes
Must be how i read it wink anyway as you say they both mean the same so ppl can't say we didn't cover every angle lol  l
Well hopefully no-one will be in any doubt as to whether whispering without asking first is allowed or not.....that's assuming they've read the forums first
wink
