After some feedback we have decided to change the room limits to see how it works out and will be reviewing the limits again on Wednesday, the admin rooms now all have a limit of 80, with the exception of The Ballroom which is 200, the Pool is still the default landing room.

Feedback is welcomed.

so why have you change the name of the beach to the ballroom and why not change the name of the pool to a other name or is it cos you dont what to upset the pool (offensive comment removed)

I've edited your comment love2, no need for the final comment, Pool users are just as valid as you/I and they don't need referring to as that.

As for the beach name, as explained in chat, it's not the members fault as what you were trying to allude to in the Pool just now, the change(s) came from management (admin)  due to feedback they received, the Beach being gorn is a casualty of the current changes.  My preferred watering hole was said beach but it's gone *shrugs* it's just how its.  You can always start your own room and name it the Beach and see how that pans out?

Can you use *'s in a room title?

In short no, try doing it, you'll get a message similar " Room name must contain only letters, numbers or spaces'

B*mmer, a * laden room title with the word Pool in it would have worked a treat for love2chat 2.

Feedback from whom?

Feedback from whom?

i would imagine feedback from active members who use the chatrooms

Really? Or just a wee committee who make it up as they go along?  My membership is up soon, doubt I will renew

 "My I"??

When the pool was 80 and the Ballroom had increased to 200; it was a pleasant change to see people in the ballroom chatting - who would otherwise not feel confident enough too within the walls of the pool. I certainly wouldn't object to it changing again, we are all creatures of habit and will get used to it in time.

In my humble opinion it worked well.  Since then there are large numbers in the Pool most of whom don't chat - either because they can't get a word in, or they feel intimidated because of the friendships that have been formed between some members.

I guess we are all guilty of chatting to those that are familiar to us, I try to keep any ongoing chats to whisper to avoid plaguing the room x

Isn't that why a lot go into the chatroom ?

To chat to "friends" they might otherwise not have any contact with ?

Seems a bit silly to keep messing with room limits by swapping max numbers from 1 room to another.....

I agree ,I do chat in the rooms mainly used the beach, but since upping the pool to 200 it's late before anyone uses the ballroom so I tend to use other rooms instead ,you have your friends on here and other's that just say the odd hello and you can't make people chat in rooms ,can't you put the room numbers back to 125 like they were ?

hi all i see there lot of proplr having there say on this So why not have a vote on it by the members of the site as we do live in a democratic country all thoes that would like the rooms to stay the same and theoes that would like the rooms to go back to how they was that way what ever the results are it was vote for by the members

i vote to stay as it was but maybe increase all room people sizes

i can see 8 people have said something about it and that does not incue us

8?  Do you have double vision?  i don't see 8 offering an opinion on the room sizes.....

But in any case, the forum is not a fair representation of the members from chat, many don't use the forums and some forum dwellers don't use the chat

Oh, and Swingingheaven isn't a democracy, neither is it run by concensus, it's owned and operated by a small team and it's they that have final say on what gives, not you or I.  Members opinion are always welcome, but it's no democracy here.

OK I wasn't bothered to say owt but a very persuasive Mod said I should.

To me the name on the room is irrelevant but whatever the 'landing room' is it should be big enough to handle the traffic.

There are too many 'Site' rooms so I would reduce the number to two: 1. The Landing Room (150) 2. The Overflow room (150).

You should be allowed to switch directly from one to the other without having to hop through a private room.

To reduce non chatters filling the room then have a 'timeout' and if they don't chat in say 15 minutes they are gone. Sorry but if you are in a 'Whisper' / PM for 2 hours then use the Messenger facility.

To further increase space stop people being in more than two rooms anywhere (I know you cannot be in say The Pool and Ballroom together). Multitasking is wonderful but when one person sits in two rooms and not chatting its double the waste of space.

Why people sit in a chatroom for hours and not contribute totally beats me. But that is what is happening. Various reasons come to mind but sorry there is no excuse. Either join in and make the place better or go. You never know you may get a meet. Oh wait .....

And here is my final contribution. I have just spent over an hour trying to have conversations, passing compliments and trying to chat generally. I said 'Oi Oi' to new arrivals (unlike others) and the nett result? One reply to basically take the p**s otherwise completely ignored. However the screen was completely filled with 6 maybe 7 'regulars' chatting amongst themselves about what they were going to do to each other and making 'really clever' remarks to each other that no one else would understand. As I said at the time it was like I was writing in invisible ink. As were others as well apparently because THEY were ignored as well. When a few people talk amongst themselves to the exclusion of anyone else about 'in' things no one else understands they therefore dominate the room to the exclusion of others. This makes new arrivals uncomfortable and less inclined to chat, the room goes quiet (echo chambers anyone?) and then those same select few complain...

As Jeremy Clarkson might intone: "Some say this is a clique".... I couldn't possibly comment. wave

Thanks for your feedback everyone

The problems with chatrooms have sweet FA to do with the room sizes and a lot to do with people in the room but not chatting.

Rigidly enforce a 10 min timeout based on chatroom typing activity and the numbers in the landing rooms will soon drop.

This sums up the situation that I have found. I don't get a chance to use the chatrooms very often but when I do I tend to end up being one of the 'watchers' because, after the initial 'hello, how are you?', I find it very difficult to enter into a conversation because the 6 or 7 regulars are in full flow. It's difficult to criticise because one can't really expect the 'regulars' to stop their conversation to entertain a 'newbie', but then sometimes they could be a bit more accommodating. (I have found some conversations to be very amusing and have been more than happy to follow the flow).

I'm not sure there is an easy solution because it's going to very difficult for the 100+ people in a chatroom to all have a conversation.
