hi, having only been here a little while i would like to share my views, albeit limited i add.
Firstly, if you insist that ppl Must fill in profile details then i think it will become even more frustrating for users trying 2 find something out about them, because those that don't want to fill it in may give false or misleading information. whereas no profile is hardly misleading, it is what it is!
secondly, i agree with ca in that i'd like to know more about those ppl i'm talking to or like to talk to, to see if they maybe of interest to me, ect.
But the complexity of this, is not easy task to overcome.
However this would not stop me from chatting to anyone who has no profile, i just think that on a site such as this, where trust and honesty needs to be of the utmost, due to its nature and the reasons we are here.
If it isn't.... then things GO Inevitably WRONG.

If people felt disadvataged because their profile was empty, then surely they would have filled it in? If they have not filled it in, then surely they must be happy with the way it is and presumably have a reason for keeping it that way. Why should they be made to fill in a profile, merely because some people feel that they need to read a profile before chatting. The answer is simple. Don't chat to people with empty profiles if you are unwilling to actually ask that person in the room the details that you wish to know.
Maybe if there were no profiles at all there would actually be more meaningful chat than "Hey babe, love your pictures, shame you're (insert random large number) miles away."
Since many winkers seem incapable of reading that large text box, the easiest way to avoid winks is not to fill in a profile.
