I have started to frequent the chat rooms and met some very friendly people wink , and not just the ones that introduce themselves to me by telling me what strange things they want to do to me redface.
I have only been on SH for about 4 months as LG’s partner, so I consider myself a noob. So with my new eyes to this environment, it seems that there is a distinct split between a lot of regulars in the forum and the chat rooms. Like myself there are exceptions to this, as I for one love reading the threads and respond as often as I can to the ones that I have an opinion on. I also enjoy a lot of the chat in the rooms. In comparison, LG doesn’t use the chat rooms as she gets put off by the constant whispering.
Eagerly awaiting your mixed views????

Im sure I replied to this earlier!! but seems to have gone surprised
Well..whilst reading Forums and making the occasional post, on the whole we prefer the chat rooms. We like the banter and comradeship we find in our regular room (Mids). Especially now we have been to a few socials and have met a lot of the regular chatters!! As for the whispers just ignore them..they give up after a couple of lines when there is no response.
Some accuse the local rooms of being a bit cliquey, which can be true in all walks of life when a group of people know each other..but most of the people are friendly enough!!
So come in and say hello sometime!!!
:welcome:
do think you can enjoy both. I used to be one that used the forums....when we used to have the old one room chat ( before the take over ) .. but now love the chat room...the banter...and really it is just a quicker version of forums. we chat about all and sundry in the Mids room. However still like to throw my ten penny worth every now and again on the forums.
I'm defo more a 'forumite', Jay's more the chatrooms. He doesn't type fast tho and last year was accused of 'lurking'. He's by no means a 'weirdo' he just waits til someone goes in he knows and will ask to talk to them in whisper as that is the speed he can keep up with.
When I chat, I chat in pink that way people know it's me, Jay's always in black and I think now they tend to give him a bit more allowance to the fact they know him now.
I think with most chatrooms it's about being a regular face and people getting to know you and trust that you are who you say you are.
Each one to their own, I like to babble in here wink

with you on that hun biggrin
im pretty equally devided tho i like the chat rooms as much as the forums but for different reasons and tend to stick to my local room and have a banter dek does get on chat more but tends to lurk as his 1 finger typing aint that quick he will speak but takes him a while he spends longer trawling the adds and gallery where as i do not tend to bother looking
I started out on the chatroom as that was what i was used to. Now I use both, for different reasons.
In fact, it's kind of nice to see Forummers say hello in chat or Chatters pop up on the Forum.
cool
I think I`m 70% forum and 30% chatroom. I enjoy reading the threads and different opinions and there is a certain chatroom I tend to go in after having a browse through the others.
We have always used the chatrooms as we find that a great way to get to know people. But we are just starting to use the forums now and enjoying it smile

I would agree.
But someone who keeps putting their hat on in a force nine gale and watching it blow away every few seconds could possibly fit the bill of weirdo bolt

I can't make head or tail of the chatrooms, all too quick, too brief, too many people at once - so I'm never there, so I don't get to know the chatterers. C'est la vie!
I have also tried the chatrooms...
In fact we have both sat and tried to chat many times.. Trouble we find is that we either get bombarded with private chats by people who can't read let alone write or get a mail box full of 'would love a shag mail' so we sort of gave up with chat and stuck to the forum..
Lucky for you lot eh... lol

The whispers can be a real pain - but the rooms with fewer people in them (less than 25 or so) seem to work pretty well. At least when the chat servers are working properly and don't dump you into the Jacuzzi or something.
I enjoy both forum and chat but it's the forums that are responsible for most of my 2am bed-times LOL.
I'm a nomad I go everywhere................. cool

When I was a member of SH in the very early days of the site in 2004, I was purely a MIRC chatroom frequentor. I don't even recall reading the Forums at all. Second time around, I am 95% a Forumite and 5% Chatroom and even then that is mainly when Forum Chat opens.
Why the change? I guess that I just don't enjoy the chatroom format anymore dunno The MIRC days were much more fun :lol2:

I could never get MIRC to work in those days - I was non-MIRC and it was almost impossible to keep up.

Pretty much sums it up for me as well..
I rarely go into chat these days and use the forums a lot more..

Oh mIRC .... *sigh* .... those were the days .... *stares nostalgically into the distance* ...

I know... in the days when It was just the one chatroom, you sort of knew everyone...also felt bloody scary going in there at times thought.... lol
it also made the munches interesting as there was a divide back then but everyone travelled.... but not as pronounced at it is now.....
the good thing is that with the big change... a lot of people who only used the ads never knew there was a chatroom before and started to use it.. but a lot of people who use the chatrooms still have no idea that the forums exist....
I like both, but mainly the Forum. I do chat and love the banter of a good room particularly my local room and I can handle whispers and gissa shag kinda lines so that doesn't put me off
Blue doesn't do either with the very very odd exception.
pink x
I love the chatroom. Its spontaneous, busy, kind, cruel, boring sexy, gross, Infuriating, addictive, Insulting, enlightening. Oh it has everything good and bad. Though in the main we as a couple have been really fortunate in getting to know on and offline some really fabulous people. People we care about and who matter to us.
The old adage trawled out "but its a sex site" doesn't wash with me. Its far more. The shagging side of it it is in fact very small in comparison to the time spent socialising and chatting. Though it has the propensity to be both. And aint that just the dogs bollox' I think so.
The forum I love too but for different reasons. I do find it more difficult to be natural and spontaneous. A lot of the 'llfe' that exists in chat cannot by the nature of the format exist in forum. Forum lends itself, if let, to more memorable moments maybe as its not so fleeting.
The effort of taking time to digest information, formulating an opinion and sharing that with people, a few of which, will pick out the minutiae of a piece of ostensibly harmless writing and turn it into something that was in its conception very innocent, and turn it into a perversion of the posters original piece.
It is a great place with some truly wonderful people contributing and whose written company I look forward to with eagerness when turning on the P.C.
The lot works as a whole and I for one will carry on paying my £50:00, or whatever, to get the massive enjoyment out of this place that I do. It really is my cyber local.

That is why this Chatroom Forum was so important to me. I hope it has broken down some of the barriers between the Chatters and the Forumites! lol   confused :?

Has he tried typing some standard responses into word or somewhere and then he could copy and paste them into the chat box... just a thought :D
That would be even more confusing for him hun good suggestion tho thanks
