Hi all
We have just bought an iPad (a waste of money we know now)
Is there anyone out there that knows why we can't get in to the chartroom???? I think it might have something to do with the chartroom needing flash!
If anyone cam help us we would be really grateful

Apple don't support Flash - you may be in trouble there unless someone knows of a workround

There is a workaround for "Jailbroken" iPads, using a program called Frash lol
I've not tried it and can't offer any recommendation, do so at your own risk! It may break your new toy
Maybe best to wait until Mr Jobs  gives in and accepts that Apple users want and need Flash.
That is the main reason why I did not buy one.
My i phone does not support it either, even though it is a 400 plus quid phone.
I will go for a notebook.
I'm sure someone said somewhere dunno that the new chartrooms won't be flash based?
Or am in noddyland again? confused :?
I recently got an iPhone essentially to come on here away from prying eyes - (the wife lol) and was gutted about not being able to video chat -might look into this jailbreak buisness

The new chat room is not Flash based so should work on Apple devices. The one drawback (as far as I know) is that the cams are still going to be Flash, so they probably won't show up.
All,
A couple of months ago Apple announced that NONE of their iPad and iPhone product range will support any Adobe Flash Player which they have 'attacked as buggy and crash-prone" *
Therefore whilst anyone with an iPad or iPhone should be able to access Swinging Heaven as a site they will NOT be able to access Chat.
My understanding is that Cubes is correct, or should that will be correct when the new version of Chat is launched as the actual Chat rooms will not be Adobe Flash Player based.
However my understanding is that Adobe Flash Player will be required to view cams, i.e. those with Apple iPad and iPhone products will be able to access Chat and join in discussions/conversations but not view any cams.
The reason for Apple's 'spat' with Adobe is one for Apple to explain to it's customers given the pretty widespread market dominance of Adobe's Flash Player product in the computer market.
I'm not saying that Adobe is perfect given many people's frustration with it being unable to offer 64-bit versions of Flash Player in this day and age, plus SH's move to 'in-house' develop a new version of Chat with significantly less reliance on Flash Player.

- What is Adobe Flash Player = "A cross-platform browser-based application runtime that delivers uncompromised viewing of expressive applications, content, and videos across screens and browsers"
- CEO Steve Jobs described Flash as outdated, unreliable and unfit for Apple's iPhone and iPad gadgets. In a detailed, 1,685-word offensive posted online spelled out the reasons why Apple continues to ban Flash from it's mobile devices, including "reliability, security and performance," and the fact that Flash was designed "for PCs using mice, not for touch screens using fingers."

- Apple do currently still list Adobe Flash Pro CS5 products in the Apple Store
- Google "apple and flash war" for more comment/info

What annoys me about Apple's stance is that it would have been perfectly ok for them NOT to support flash or indeed any phone with flash installed but they have removed a great deal of useability from their customers by denying them the opportunity. Surely it should be down to the User what they do with their phone ( and whether they put up with buggy software ). It's this "control freak" aspect of Apple that stops me buying any of their products.
Adobe said they'd work with Apple to sort out issues but it got thrown back at them. You just cant please some companies :-S
