Hi are you aware of the lag in the chatroom tonight?
First of all we would like to apologise for all of the issues that there have been over the last few weeks, everybody on the development team does care about the service that we offer and have spent a lot of time developing new code to improve the chat room, one example is to make the experience better for those using mobile devices/tablets in chat and across the whole site. This work continues and we have two devlopers working on towards enabling streaming of cams from IoS devices.
Unfortunately along the way there have been problems with disconnections to chat and video streaming, we did put in fixes for both that worked however these problems kept coming back, on carrying out a deep check of the server logs today we spotted that loading on one of the backend services, ejabberd , has been spiking at 100% since since the 4th Feb, on further investigation we have discovered that an ejabberd update was implemented at that time and that this had been causing speed issues plus the manifestation of disconnection/cam issues. We have rolled back that update today and monitoring the situation closely, we have also put in additional alerts to warn us if this were to happen in the future.
There was still one remaining issue for those with extras that use their accounts as a couples and cam at the same time, some characters in their chosen display name can disrupt their cam stream and cause issues, that fix is also now in place.
