Which linux distro are ya using? Debian, Suse, Fedora etc
Which web browser are you using? Firefox, Galleon, Opera etc
If you post this info you might get a reply. I have Ubuntu linux which works fine on the site.
I can post a 'howto' if you are using ubuntu linux.
biggrin
I am sorry but that says it all how SH is being run at the moment and why so many people are fed up. A member asks a fair and honest question asking for help with SH chatroom problems and a mod can only take the p*** out of her rather than trying to help.

Of course, it's always the fault of the Mods and Ops. We're volunteers who try and help the site and to the best of my knowledge we don't hold an IT degree between us. Where we know the answer or can offer solutions we will and where we don't sometimes a humourous post can keep the question at the top of the page until someone with all the answers comes along. Or has humour been outlawed in this forum ?
As you can see this member has been offered some help by people in the know, so wind ya neck in.
Second answer confirms my thoughts for the first answer and no I wont wind my neck in.

Juicy, last night I fired up one of my PCs with Mandriva Linux on one of its partitions to try SH out. I attempted to install Firefox but then came across the hurdle of not being able to remember how to do this. Even clicking on the file didn't start an apropriate program to view it. As you can probably tell, I'm not a great fan of the Linux GUI, I find it a disorganised mess of programs and I always find it very hard to remember how to do most things, unlike M$ windows. It always seesm to be an uphill struggle to get the simplest thing done like getting the fonts the correct size to read properly.
Please note my critiscm is of the GUI that runs on Linux, not Linux iteself.
I used to use Linux for work about 6 years ago and it was zippy on a 600MHZ PC with the distros available but I have found the current distributions are terribly slow when the GUI is running on all the PCs I have, and because I'm very rusty with Linux now, I'm at a loss to know how to investigate the slugish performance.
If you are a total Linux Novice, the answers are out there on the Internet but probably not on this site.
In the meantime, if a SH member knows of a Linux distro that has a config that allows the GUI to work adaquatly, speak up, I will try it out and see if I can get all SH features to work under Linux.
Hi Juicy,
I've been using Linux since 1998, so I'm quite familiar with it. Sounds like you need a Flash Player Plugin for your browser. Up until recently, Linux users had lots of issues, as Adobe would only support Flash 7 on Linux... A couple of months ago, they released Flash 9 smile
Download one of these files,
If you're using an RPM based system (Like RedHat/Fedora, you need the .rpm, for all other systems, you need the .
Close all your browser windows.
If you got the RPM, and saved it to your Desktop (assuming you're using Gnome). Execute the command "sudo rpm -Uvh ~/Desktop/ " and that should be that.
If you grabbed the . , you'll been to untar it, execute "tar zxvf ~/Desktop/install_flash_player_9_ "
Then, "cd install_flash_player_9_linux"
Then, "./flashplayer-installer"
Follow the instructions. When done, start your browser, and try the chatroom again. All should work just fine :)
