I use a Mac OS X and recently have found the chatrooms impossible to use they just freeze or run really slowly... I've changed my browser several times and wondered what else I could do to improve things? Are you only geared to PC's?
I don't have any problem with any other sites!
Many members here use Mac.
I personally have little knowledge of them and cant help - I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction dolly.
Dolly - have sent you a PM with a couple of questions about your system, hopefully we can get you up and running again.

he's such a nice man taking time out from his very busy schedule of perving bolt
Do you know what kind of Mac it is?
I use a powerbook G4 and that mostly seems to work fine, occasionally I get a bit of lag, but generally it works well - even with my cam own cam on.
Thanks swcpl am trying some of your suggestions but updating my browsers and flash etc I can't do not being on OS X 10.4 but I can't justify the cost of updating my whole operating system just to get into one internet chat room! Ticks me off when they update software so often and cut out the previous customers. No problem on any other site though that's the rub! Maybe its my ISP coming over all holy and virginal and barring me from SH chat?
I have a PowerPC G4 sixfootsix, mostly for work with stacks of memory so baffles me what the problem is! It's just got worse over time getting onto SH chat, can barely chat let alone put my cam on.
Got a creaky old PC though that's ok so I just assume its all Windows friendlier!
Hey ho!
One more thing.. the chat room works ok (though freezes with cam) when it's quiet but when the rooms are busy in the evenings etc that's when it's worse.
Any reason?? Server issue?

The software being used for the site and the chatroom is totally platform independent. It makes no difference whether you're on Windows, OS/X or Linux.
You don't need to upgrade to Leopard to update either Flash or Safari as both are free downloads.
What might (or probably will) give you problems down the road is the fact you're using a PowerPC G4. A lot of programs are dropping the universal binary method and changing over to Intel only.
Lots of memory will make no difference with the chatrooms unless you are doing a lot of multi-tasking.
All you need do is make sure your internet connection is fine, that you have the latest version of and the latest version of whichever browser you are using whether it is or (you may have more success with the latter).
Click on any of the above links to get the latest version of the software for your Mac.
Many thanks Peanut, unfortunately I'm currently on OS X 10.3.9 I will need to upgrade to 10.4 to get the latest flash/safari/firefox versions... c'est la vie this commercial world!
Dolly upgrading to Tiger won't make a difference unfortunately. In chat yesterday you said your computer was a 433 Mhz G4, that is the problem, it's just not powerful enough to run the flash chat room application. sad
My powerbook G4 struggles when a room is busy, so unfortunately you have no chance of it running on your G4 without it seriously lagging.
Sorry :(
Thanks Sixfootsix... though I do find it ironic our creaky old barely used PC manages just fine!
I run a lot of graphics packages handling big files.. are you sure it can't handle one little chat room??
Never mind it's not important!
xx

Presumably the graphics packages were written for PowerPC rather than Flash having been written for Intel then having to be interpreted for PPC. The processor has to work much harder when interpreting code from one processor to the other. Alas lots of memory can't help with that.
It's similar to when you run Windows under a virtual environment like VMWare without a decent processor and lots of memory. It slows down to buggery due to the extra cpu processing required.

For whatever reason, flash just doesn't perform very well on the G4's. I also (had) a 733Mhz G4 Tower and my ex girlfriends little girl used to play on some childrens dress up sites that were flash based, and they just ran terribly on that machine, on the powerbook they were more "acceptable" but were still slow.
It's a shame, because in all other respects my G4 works perfectly, it's more than fast enough for anything I do, but start loading pages with flash on and it just slows right down.
I bought a refurb mac mini 2Ghz from the apple site for £390 inc vat and delivery, that runs flash more fast enough!
