Where are you thinking of putting this Oldies Section, and what do you mean by "old" ???? confused :? :? lol  wink
Not sure where is best for the "Oldies" section.
By Old I mean numerically old
Mind and actions quite young on this site!

Age is subjective anyway - to someone older, you'll seem young; to someone younger, you'll seem old.
I think there are enough categories.

I agree with FB.
Tolomy, as you yourself imply, age doesn't define you - or anyone. I am beyond 50, but whatever age I was, I would avoid any age-group chat section, as I am happy to chat with and meet with people of any age.
Nothing is stopping you from setting up an "oldies" chatroom when you are in chat, but I won't be interested. My last two meets were both with females about 20 years younger than me, by the way.
Basically I agree with both FB and Mike, however I notice a difference in my former profile to that of yours Mike.....you didn't disclose your age. It says 2007 ! So what have I done?.....same as you; mine now also says 2007. So lets see what happens, I'll willingly tell people my real age if they ask. My theory is that if you place a "post retirement"...."free bus ticket" age people dismiss you as being, well lets just say they do'nt reply or take you seriously. Anyone any ideas to help spice up my profile?...all suggestions accepted with thanks. Oldies section? well I'm still not sure.

I think you'll find that people won't discount you for your age; what they will discount you for is 'am I too old?' or 'we need separate sections' posts, or if you go on about your age. There are men in their sixties on here who meet people.

I agree with you FB, there nothing enjoyable or even necessary about old people going on about being old. You don't get young people going on about being young!
Tolomy, I've forgotten what age I am, therefore it's not on my profile. lol Now you've taken your age off yourprofile, perhaps you'll forget too! Good luck.

Shattered my illusions!
Why would we need an "oldies" section -- the last two meets I had were with a 26 year old lady and a 27 year old lady respectively -- and they messaged me -
I didn't go chasing them lol
The best advice is the same as I would give any other single male on this site -- get a nice face pic on your profile, post regularly in the forum, get known in the chatrooms, get to munches and socials when you can -- show people that you have a personality -- and generally stand out a bit from the rest of the "single male herd" -- and good luck for 2008
No more categories needed. Similar has been put forward before - we get an "oldies" category, then people will also want a thin/ugly/ginger etc etc category too. It won't work and on the whole, I don't think it's wanted.
How do you get noticed? Like anyone else - time and patience, get more involved in the social side and just be yourself.
I don't agree with hiding your age, tbh. Some people do have age preferences and they're going to find out eventually so just be upfront from the start.
Good luck wink
Dear All,
Thank you for your views and suggestions, I note that some of the chat rooms specify or suggest age but when you look at the profiles of the chatters they are more often than not younger than the chat roome title wood suggest. Does this mean that the younger we are the older we want to be and the older we are the youger we want to be? and is "middle age" a happy median or a compromise?
Perhaps age should be banned like so many things these days!.....no birthdays....no specified age for being allowed to do things....no retirement age...etc etc.
I think I'm at risk of seeming stupid to pursue that one!.....and so I will forget this and just be me, age? well just ask!.
BEST REGARDS AND THANK YOU ALL
Tolomy

As an old codger myself, I think the only way old people can meet anyone on this site is to lie about their age! But I refuse to do that.
