Just tried and keep getting the "There was an error somewhere" screen.
Am using Mozilla Firefox in private browsing mode

Ditto.
Windows XP, Latest Firefox browser but not in private mode. Running Kaspersky 2010 antivirus and firewall.
Same as the two posts above, XP Pro, Firefox 3.6.8
Same as above, running vista firefox and also tried in IE 8 and still get same message.
Also downloaded desktop icon and that wont work either?
Tried accessing via 'desktop chat'. Get a login screen but get the message "There has been an error loading your profile. Please contact support.".
As before Win XP, Firefox browser, Kaspersky 2010 AV and Firewall.

will do later when i get time HnM
i also did this to no avail
right click on the desk top icon
properties
compatibility
run as admin
I'll update my first post and do a reply as bugs are fixed.
The login issue is now resolved. All users should have compatibility off in IE8, the separate bug in the Events section has now been fixed so you don't need compatibility turned on there either.
Thanks,
Elliot
Page now lets me login on desktop chat, but once I click 'login' I just get a blank page.

Ela,
see amended opening comment from Elliott re Desktop "SH Chat" icon, being for older versions of IE
as you are on Win 7 then also guessing IE8 as well. In this case IE8 tools and switch off Compatability 'on the fly' when in opening 'launch' Chatroom screen and select the "launch Beta" chat option and should get in.

All seems to working fine with XP Pro and Firefox 3.6.8 entered via "Launch Beta Chat" not tried "Desktop" yet. Hope that helps someone.
Anybody who has installed it before 15:00 today - needs to reinstall the upgraded version from the main site Chatroom page.
If you try and access a private room with the incorrect password - the system generates a 'spoof' room rather than leaves you in the main room.
Elliott/St3v3,
User had a cam open in the room we using for testing earlier, however when they left the room and returned to The Pool their camera stayed on in the room for circa 5 mins, even though they not showing as a "Member" of the room, before it dropped.
Poss issue when peeps think they left room for general area or private room ?
Also, when exiting from a room (where had camera on) back to The Pool, the Pool Live Cams display showed that I had a cam active, but other testers in the there were unable to access until it had 'decayed' in the room.
Might be worth checking camera 'timeouts' ?
put me down please
ta
Was using beta chat and room froze, although cams were still moving
all,
after 2hrs in room, emoticons stopped working for some
also online/away/busy options ceased
as did bold, italics and underline
also when a cam was closed, instead oof it's position becoming white again, as per usual, whole cam box for that position turned yellow, wouldn't open another cam in that position
hi can i come in ?

Lorna - you need to post your request in this thread:

Hi,
The "Launch Beta Chat" button doesnt work for me. For my other 1/2 - nick Bi-Cpl2 it does but gettin a "Error Loading Your Profile please contact support" message.
I can't seem to view profiles through the chatroom.
It's worked a few times then stopped working again.

did for us, logging out and coming back in worked and been ok since
If you create your own room, you can't make someone else co-host, so if the host leaves, everyone gets kicked back to main
Can we have the option to pass on the host abilities please
Thanks
After starting my own room i was able to go into another 'created' room and 'kick' a user in there - it seems that you can retain 'host' rights across user created rooms - is this correct?
Elliott,
For information we tried an experiment last night (Friday) in trying to run the usual BBW Room (open to any/everyone else mind) within the Beta Chat.
Apart from a few minor issues it was reasonably successful, with no real big issues encountered and those that were being logged earlier in the thread and discussed with St3v3 when he popped in.
Going forward it might be worth creating a 'new chat' brief FAQ or supplements to the new ? help screen.
Here the feeling being explaining :
- that having a 2Mb ISP bandwidth session and having cameras set to large and camera resolution to ultra will 'eat' bandwidth and can therefore result in a 1-2 second delay between text 'send' appearing on the chat screen
- that getting an 'image' against a profile in the Members list is dependant on people having a profile picture set rather than a common mis-understanding that it distinguished those with 'Extras' vs those without
- that the 'old' flash based emoticons are not available, with a new subset of the Forum and IM emoticons available with different
- that when a camera session is lost, you might need to manually 'X' it before you can open another camera in that window
Overall, the feeling of those popping in/out of the room was that it was a success - particularly with none of the usual chatroom issues encountered in the traditional chatrooms with lag, just crashing out, Flash 'script' errors.
Also NO chat crashes when re-sizing screens or docking/undocking connected devices via Win 7 Mobile Centre, unlike existing/old Chatrooms
Tried the new chat on the iPad and pleasantly surprised with the maturity of the new app.
One small issue that we found was that if we access a profile via the chatter's icon and spend anything other than a few seconds looking at it then the connection to chat is lost, but we are automatically reconnected on clicking on the chat room Safari window.
Can we have the "whistle"icon back please?
Overall, impressed with new chat, well done to the SH team for introducing what looks to be stable and mature.
Now, how about a dedicated iPhone, iPad app? wink
