Friday night 15th oct - crash after crash, complaint after complaint ..........and the "old chat" rooms are FULL............. of course the new beta chat works.... not!
Want to rake some revenue in S/H?...........listen to what people want - not what you think they want.
We all appreciate that the changes were made with the best intentions. However what most of the complaints are about is the delivery of these changes. Users should have got a relatively pain-free transition. They didn't!
Note to SH admin... they might be ill informed, ignorant, but the customer is always right!! Some of the responses from SH in the forum sounded like they could've come from a "I don't give a s**t" low cost airline.
Maybe it's time to do some damage limitation and start handing out some complimentary Extras or membership extensions...
Have submitted a support ticket but received no reply.......
Why is the new chat not working - total shambles...
Sh trying to get me to renew my subscription - is it worth it with such shambolic service?
I agree with Wakey, I dont care how it work's so long as it does................This doesn;t
If the timewaster's and Walter Mitty's were'nt enough to handle, we have this.
Sorry but this site is made up of 85% Bullsh**t artists and timewasters and now we have a chat server to match.
Well done you must be so proud
Dont know if it's been reported before or even if it is a bug, but when I've just left one of the rooms the cam that I was viewing stayed on through all the rooms that I then popped into. Wherea's in old chat it would go off.
P.s can some one give me typin lesson's so I can keep up biggrin

Fildee,

I didnt see your post before I did mine but I agree and have winged too!
people ought to vote with they'r feet and only use old chat over the next month!

much prefer the old chat format ........new one is very childishly laid out and having to click on all sorts just to get to read a profile!! .......... In fact the old chat format was probably the best on any site (thats why people used it).
Sorry S/H ....... but the new format is not very good or user friendly - its swingers and ordinary everyday people logging on to use it ....... not PC experts.

Well I prefer the new chat and it seems that already most people are using it. The old rooms are now quite quiet. People do seem to be voting with their feet

Having flitted between the 2 formats over the past week and listened to most people's comments - the majority of "swingers" actually prefer the old chat.
The only people who like the new chat (which is not good or user freindly anyhow) are the "cammers" ........ which in most swingers eyes is not their idea of swinging.
Real swingers join sites to meet other swingers and have no objection to paying if they know there will be people with filled in profiles, have genuine photo's and who genuinely want to meet........ they wont pay to just watch someone wanking on a cam .
We all have our own views and opinions, but having been on here for a few years now and having seen the changes over the years, we have seen so many genuine swingers leave its unbelievable - and sad to a certain extent, it used to be a fun site and very popular.
wonder why so many have left or are putting comments such as "wont be re-newing my/our subscription".
Sorry to sound negative - but sometimes, change is not alawys for the best.

True, more people are using the new chat. But whether they like it or prefer it over the old chat is another matter. As for voting with their feet they might be heading off to other sites.
I can't say I prefer the new chat... in the old chat I wasn't always getting disconnected, I didn't have to wait for the room list to populate, nor wait to join a room or even wait for my text to appear.
Let's hope these bugs are sorted out soon!

Totally agree the old chat is one of the best I've used anywhere, the new one well I keep getting disconnected and find it akward to navigate, and while I'm in moan mode don't like the new video or photos layout either
We are experiencing problems when looking at profiles. Very rarely do they appear on the front screen. Normally they are not visable, as they are behind the page. Advice would be appreciated.

Sunday night 24/10/10 ..........nice to see loads reverting back to the "old chat".....seeing as the "new one" doesent work - AGAIN!!.......
Jeez - why not just keep the old one - which everyone was happy with, which worked.

Have to agree, same thing happened yesterday, got an invite to a pvt room yesterday, and could n't get need to sort it quick,or people will leave.
not only have they changed the chatroom but other parts of the site also.
Greed I think is behind this. For example, the video section now only shows videos in a tiny window - with a great big banner across the top asking you to up-grade!
They want your money and will stop at nothing to get it.

Too true GnV, people have such short memories, there were hundreds of posts regarding the 'old' chatroom not working/crashing/not liking the design etc. (so soon forgotten with something new to bleat about).
Give it a month and they'll be back to moaning about timewasters, lack of meets or some other trivial nonsense.
Reminds me of the hoo-ha over SHrep and 'storm in a tea cup' comes to mind.
Luddite's never die - they just join forums.. lol

List the features of the new chat that are superior to the old model.
The Cams - available in three sizes and detachable. (The old chat equiv is 'small cam')
Four sizes of text helpful for those with a sight problem. (the old chat equiv is 'small font')
The increase in the room size to allow more people into popular rooms. (old site limit 70, new site limit (currently set @ 100).
New software allows quicker development of 'new' functions.

Whats the point in 3 sizes of cams?.....arent people just going to choose the largest anyhow?? (when they work that is)..most people nowadays use large monitors.
Font size?.....for those with a sight (or site) problem??......huh !! blink
100 in a room is too many ......becomes difficult to scroll room list or to click on profiles.
Is it worth us airing our views at all - because it doesent matter what we say, the site owners will only try and justify themselves.........when in reality - everyone was perfectly happy with the old format.
Mods edit: we don't advertise other swinging websites, thanks

How are detachable cams superior to multiple room windows though? Nobody ever moaned about not having enough windows when the facility was available, but the did moan when the ability to have a multiple chat window instance was messed with from time to time, doh.
Four sizes of text helpful for those with a sight problem. (the old chat equiv is 'small font')

But don't most browsers have a zoom function though? Either way, I have no recollection of anyone ever moaning about chatroom text size over the many years I have been here; I'm not saying it isnt a valid concern, I am however saying I don't EVER recall it being an issue.
The increase in the room size to allow more people into popular rooms. (old site limit 70, new site limit (currently set @ 100).

Yeah, granted, thats nice, however many of the old rooms (that frequently had 70 members such as the cd/tv room) now seem to have have bugger all members in them... cant think why though?
Oh and, the way the new chatroom populates the user list in each room means that said chat software becomes overburdened with 50 users in a room, much less 70 or 100.
New software allows quicker development of 'new' functions.

I cannot claim to have ever performed a review of the old chat software vs the new; however, as you seem to have this knowledge, can you please enlighten us vis a vis the chat platforms that were being used vs the chat platforms that are now being used? in order an objective comparrison can be made?
The bottom line here is that nothing is perfect. Yes the old chatroom did have the odd issue, however I think you will find that most folks raising support issues about the old chatroom were doing so over peripheral issues.
Conversely the gripes being aired about the new chatroom seem to stem from a fundamental dislike of the new software, a dislike that is causing long standing members such as wakeycouple et al to chime in, not on account of them being 'ludites' or other nonsense, but rather on account that they feel the site has taken a step back.
I mean, is the Yorkswongers room even on the new chat or is that another room that has taken a nose dive?
Thankyou John .....

The 'quality' of the new cams are far superior to the old chatroom. The ability to detach them and put them where you want them (if you so wish) is a nice addition over the old fixed ones. Multiple room access has nothing to do with it, that's a whole different question. And yes, we miss the ability to be in more than one room at a time.

True, it's a personal preference but those who need it now have it to use (if they so wish).

That's really a question you have to ask of the members who created those rooms its got nothing to do with the 'superiority' - The superiority is that you can have 30 more people in the room.
Oh and, the way the new chatroom populates the user list in each room means that said chat software becomes overburdened with 50 users in a room, much less 70 or 100.
Not had that problem myself, have you raised a support ticket so they can see what your problem is?

The old chatroom software was completely based on Adobe Flash and was over 5 years old (ancient in IT lifespans). As Elliot has put it in another thread it was becoming a nightmare to support and add the kind of functions the members were asking for.
The new chat is based on Javascript/XMMP Jabber (Flash remains only for the cams) and runs on XenVM (if I remember correctly), which is the current standard adopted by numerous other sites for chat systems.
The bottom line here is that nothing is perfect. Yes the old chatroom did have the odd issue, however I think you will find that most folks raising support issues about the old chatroom were doing so over peripheral issues.
Today the number of possible permutations of Operating systems, browsers and security software being used means that nothing is ever going to be perfect 1st time out - it's simply impossible to test every combination.
A lot of the 'gripes' could have been solved had people taken a few minutes to read the help screen or view the help tutorials in the Support Centre or even read through some of the forum posts for answers. It seems that some may not like 'this or that function' and that is their prerogative, some do like it, and feel it's a step forward and that is their prerogative also.
I mean, is the Yorkswongers room even on the new chat or is that another room that has taken a nose dive?
I've seen it there a few times. But probably best to ask the room host why it's not showing everyday. Alternatively, you could start the room yourself....
To end:
No, it's not perfect yet and some things could have been done/handled better (hindsight is a wonderful tool). We've suffered from many of the issues that have arisen over the past few weeks (cams crashing, disconnections etc) and yes they are frustrating at the least. One hopes that it will settle down quickly and the remaining issues resolved by Elliot and the team at SH. The way to move forward is to provide constructive not destructive feedback to improve the site and offer solutions to individual dislikes or the 'why' behind what doesn't work for you. That's all we do, and it has always had a positive response from the folks at SH Towers.
Why are you change everything for this piece of rubbish. We all pay (most of us) for the use of the site.
I have read the comments and frankly find it a waste if time that you have thought its a good idea to change the chat.
Problens we have found:-
1. cant view cams
2. cant view profiles
3. not able to switch of whispers
4. got to search too many roons to find what your are looking for
5. cant click on a letter and see if your friends are in the room you have to scrol all the names.
It aint broke DONT TYR AND FIX
For the cost we pay and the membership has increased from 300,000 to 1 1/4 millon surley you can do a lot better than his ?????????

Wed night 27/10/10 ........cams in "new chat" not working again - in fact the majority of the chat is all complaints and loads heading back to the old chat room .........dread to think whats gonna happen when there is no "old chat" back up next week - when its gone ....
I can't begin to tell you how fucked off I am with the new chatroom!
If they think it's an improvement they must be off their heads!!!!
Also, I don't like the fact that if you want to watch a reasonable size video now you have to sign up to Extra's. What a bloody con!!!
I used to have a lot of respect for this site, but not anymore. I'm off as soon as my subscription runs out - there are plenty of other sites.
The only way it'll change is if enough people vote with their feet or complain enough.
D.
PS I expect you'll take this off, won't you??
