How cool is the new chatroom just been in for a quick look it was great easy to use but not many people in but sure it wil be a big hit. You can limit it to couple /singles or just females and pick to just let people in who have a cam which seems a good idea as more people will put there cams on
sad
Shame very time try to enter new chatroom get told I appear to already be logged into the application.
Honestly not in there unless I have an unknown double!!! In which case shouldn't be able to get into other rooms either.
Understand always teething problems with any beta version. Just a shame I always seem to find these bugs that prevent me joining in the fun.
:smile2:
I'm getting the same message. I don't want to seem ungrateful, but after so many months of development time beyond the original promises, you'd think that the number 1 most complained about bug in the old software wouldn't be present in the new version!
The really sad thing is that this is so incredibly easy to fix! All that needs to be done is to kick the old 'ghost' login when a new one is connected rather than show this useless and frustrating message.
If SH is paying external developers for this software, then I'd seriously consider withholding the cash until basic bugfixes are complete.
Hopefully when the new chat room is up and running, it will not be hit with the same problems, the old chat rooms have suffered from.
Our concern is that the problems on the current chat servers, have been ongoing now for as long as we can remember, and cannot see things changing when the new one is up and running. We do hope so though, as the chat rooms are fun and bring a lot of enjoyment to people. Here's to keeping our fingers crossed for the new chat rooms.
I am so glad other people are "logged in already" as I was thinking I had been the victim of identity fraud !
oh well I am impressed so far, its a great inprovement on the old blank grey/white screen ! lol
These kinds of things are really hard to get right straight away. It's almost impossible to do any "real life" stress testing of an application unless you have huge amounts of resources available. Mass replication of actual user activity is particularly hard to automate.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if it takes some time to iron out all the wrinkles.
PS - I don't work here or anything!

ok.... next one!
speed!
We timed it... the new chatroom took just under TWENTY MINUTES to post something we typed to the chat window... congratulations! SH should rush down the patent office, for no-one else has ever invented a "Non-Instant Messenger" program!

Maybe thats how they plan put a stop to all the budding cam directors then lol

It's working fine now.
The 'logged in' fault usually occurs because people just close the application rather than logging off correctly.................................
I get in first go every time, but then I'm a good fellah and log off properly wink
But I didn't even get the chance to log in! I was already "there" and I have never logged in ever before! oh well its working ok now. Hope to have a better look later.

Same here. No cam icons. Also it's running verrrrryyyyyyy slow. But it's not so bad that you can't use it.
biggrin
Cams have been disabled in Beta Chat in order to sort out some issues, there's a bit of recoding to be done and unfortunately unless its under load there's no real way of spotting the problems which is why its open for use at the moment.

ditto what kiss said m8 lol  we know new systems take time to iron out the bugs
Firefox 2 (well: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0 ), Win XP SP2 - Adobe (ouch) Flash. Starts loading, then completely crashes FireFox sad I've yet to see it in action - please don't turn off the working one just yet!

Except for instances where the chat server just gives up the ghost and decides it wants to be a teapot instead - which is does frequently lol
Plus as the new one is un-acceptably slow - really leaves little option. Perhaps bells and whistles and flashy bits isn't really the way forward after all. I think, most people, when asked, Would opt for a fairly plain, but fully stable and operational chatroom, as opposed to something that seems to be such a nightmare to even beta test!
can we just have chat server 3 back - pretty please?
Well just spent 10 minutes on it, and it looks pretty sexy.......... obviously speed and cams need sorting, but it looks ok

Crashes my Firefox2 as well. Seems to do the same in IE7 but that might be a leftover login rom the Firefox crash.
I'll try IE7 first tomorrow mad
Slow doesn't come close, have to say though the old chat room wins hands down for me, the new one is colourful but its also more difficult to navigate in, how do you whisper to someone? and why is'nt there a chat to all button? moving rooms in the old room is a chore, im not impressed tbh a new skin on the old chat with a few extra buttons would have been sufficient and saved money.

just about says it all
I've had a look and can't see my own typing appear and no names down the side just people icons. Are there 'rooms' to visit or not installed yet?
I have a Mac and I assume we Mac users are possibly exempt?? We do have a PC though! I have no idea what 'Beta' means... do you need software for this?
Loaded pretty quickly though even if there seemed to have lots of bits missing!
cool

To whisper someone.....First ask and wait for a positive response .....Then click the users name..
A seperate tab opens....
If you look at the top of the chat screen you will see it now has two tabs where once there was one.......Firefox users will recognise this instantly....
Then simply close the whisper tab when finished or alternate between the two ......Its the same as in the old mIRC room...
Hope that helps.. biggrin

Steve, you didn't answer my queries..... is there a reason I am not getting the full whammy?
lol
I don't know if anyone else has noticed this yet...
but unlike the old chatroom where you stayed logged in to the main site whilst using it... in the new chatroom you get logged off of the main site through not being active - even though you are talking in chat.
Whilst you don't get booted from chat when this happens - it does stop you being able to use the view profile opition - as you just get taken to the homepage to log-in confused
do we have any update on when the cameras are going to rool in the new chat room confused:
