Why? Essentially a transvestite is a person that crossdresses (usually male) their gender isn't an issue, they just have a particular fetish/persuasion/inclination.
Andy

Surely that is not correct - "Gender" is completely the issue, whereas the sex of the person is neither here nor there.

You're complicating a relatively simply situation, essentially gender/sex (in the context of the initial post) pretty much mean the same thing.
See here

or specifically from the above link
but in most contexts, even in some areas of social sciences, the meaning of gender has expanded to include "sex" or even to replace the latter word.
Gender and Sex are 2 completely different concepts.
I would not take anything from Wikipedia as a representation of the facts and the initial post is silent on gender, but it does mention sex, and that is why I said gender is completely the issue whereas sex is not.
It is not complicating the issue - it is simplifying it. You are born into a sex, but your gender is up to you.
Eitherway if newer icons are going to be the way forward then ultimately there could be so many of them (TV, TS, Bi, Straight, Couple, Single, Bi-Cur, CD etc etc), that they will become meaningless and just ignored.
I suppose there are sensitivities calling a TV "He", when he would like to be referred to as "she" - but I suppose that anyone who would chat with a TV on here would be aware of those sensitivities and not consciously do anything to offend.
why not just have a 3rd option that could be used by tv ts or also anyone else who doesnt identify as either of the 2 polar genders.

If I'm going into the chatroom, it's nice to be referred to with the female pronoun, and if camming then it is always 'en femme'
I wouldn't get the hump if someone referred to me as 'he' but it's my preference to be as feminine as possible in the chat room...

Doesnt bother me how anyone is in chat/cam , for the most part I'll refer to them as per their login name.
Essentially if you're in chat/on cam logged in as 'Jayne HumungusClit' or 'Evelyn BigNorkers' but you're sporting a big willy wiv a full a set of balls and 'giving it some' *laughing* then I'm referring to you as Jayne or Evelyn, das all there is to it really.
Disclaimer: All characters mentioned in this post are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead is purely coincidental.

I've seen a couple of TVs/CDs listed as female on their profile. If it bothers someone being listed as male then surely they could just do this?
Regardless, I think it should reflect your true gender (that which you identify as in daily life) which is polar.

 Simplest answer - could be a fourth profile type. But that would be revolutionary for a swingers' site.

You haven't been to Brighton lol
So if we could have lots of icons,,,,, icons with different positions for the one you prefer , a gimp mask, peeing, some one being kicked in the nuts ,where will it end
dunno
But seriously
Think it fair to say that the person or persons would be rather be addressed to the sex they dress as, or feel who they are inside then selves, rather than the true sex that they were born with,. Nobody want to be in situation that embarrassing or upsetting to either party
Do the people in this gender feel they need a separate icon?
Take care not to make sweeping generalisations. TS, TG, TV, CD are are distinctly different and deserve to be treated as such. Trying to shoehorn them into a new account type just won't work.
There are also some Site policy and legal aspects to consider. For example, the Site AUP clearly states that you cannot hold an account that is deceitful to others. With regard to this discussion, that would be an issue, for example, if a male TV or CD attempted to convince people he was female by holding a female account.
Conversely, pre and post op transsexuals - if they live the majority of their day to day life as their target gender - have the right under law to be addressed and recognised as that gender. That's as it should be and is fully respected by SH.
