Profile saying online when not!

Is it just me but I spend what seems like hours going through all the forums and chat rooms looking for friends who are supposedly online but are not.
A follow on thought would be that could it not say on the profile where someone is when it says they are online?
Finally, a thought to those who moan about lurkers and stalkers, why not try saying hello yourselves - it can be daunting jumping in to a chat in full flood, especially when the chatters know each other and there is a lot going on that has obviously got a lot of history to it and makes no sense to the new-comer!

The profile could show that someone is on line and you may not be able to find them because each user has the option to hide their on line status when using the forums. Also, if a person has just logged off, the site only updates approximately every five minutes, so the profile could say on line, when infact, they have just logged off.
But if you are trying to find them, why not send a message asking them where abouts on the site they actually are wink much easier
Yeah but no but sometimes it will say online on the profile, but in the favourites list it will say last seen online 4 hours/days/weeks or whatever ago!
Therefore, if you send a message and they do not reply you don't know if they haven't seen the message, are not online or just don't want to talk to you!!
