Total number in chatrooms

Does anyone bloody well understand how the numbers add up because i bloody don't.
The site stats on the bottom left of the menu bars state that at this time 14:27 there are 1764 people using the video chat. Well excuse me but I've been through all 4 rooms and have totaled them up as well as I can twice and come to just short of 700 each time (between 680-700) Where the fuck I miscount by a thousand I just don't know. Hell i even looked behind the sofa and there's nothing to be there lol

Oooooooer I am more amused at someone sitting there counting room members through 3 Servers *has a vision now of Lost sat there with a calculator, pad and pen* :giggle:

Ermmm don't forget the extras lounge which had one person in ......me! biggrin

And i didn't need a calculator see. I used kist me fingers and toes noting else smile

Reason I did a count is that I usually look at how many are in before I enter the rooms. Being over 1700ppl i though cool good chance there will be a local room om server 2 but alas i was wrong :sad: there was a total of 6 rooms holding less than a hundred people. so being inquisitive and as is my wont I had a bit of nosy.
And on a quick reconoitre once more there are less than 800 in all 4 servers and yet the counter as of this time of 20:01 says 1767 Odd ain't it
Have I too too much time on my hands then yes, probably, but then this took about ten minutes or so and i'm killing time before taking my kids out so it aint a great deal

Something in the back of my mind is saying "feeed me"....
no seriously, I think that it also counts the cams as a connection. So if you were in chat and on cam then it would count that as two connections.
I may possibly be talking total and complete navalfluff on this one, but you never know I might be being helpful dunno

Thats bollox Ian put your mind at rest it aint, I just dont like bullshit
Lock the fucking thread or get rid of it I care not, The topic would not be debateable if there was a viable reason forthcoming simple as that. I just think it would be nice to have things that make me question answered. If I'd of wanted to do a Brucie type opening post then I would of.

Mine currently says 'Memebers in Chat 3095' A quick count adds up to 1300. I suppose it just looks good and encourages people to cough up the money for access to it when they see these kind of figures. A bit like the One million plus members! :-)

Seriously... I'm not sure where you're getting your numbers but I just took a screen shot of the front page:

I then logged in and checked again... same number. Then I checked the Admin page... and it says the same.

Your giving stats for the forums which isn't the front page, if you check the home page you will find stats that resemble the sums used to bail out the banks last years.

The little bit at the bottom of the pic... where it says "video chat" - video chat is video chat... nothing to do with the forums as far as I know. :dunno:

They do say the nearly same thing yes but the reality is so far removed from these figures - go do a cursory count through the servers and you'll find at this point about a third of that number are there.

Lostie is right about the numbers - the SH counter is rather enthusiastic it seems.
At the moment the claim is 1615 chatters in the 3 servers, well there's no more than 375 at present.
I wonder why SH advertise the site to be busier than it actually is?

Looks like its broken, we have tried a few different methods over the last few weeks to get an accurate count, time for another go.

The stats list those who have logged off and they don't disappearr for about 15 minutes.
There are many anomolies with the stats. You can be chatting to someone in a room and then hop to their profile in a new window and it will say they are *offline*. This seems to be because the rooms and the stats are on different servers and the main server only gets consulted when an authorisation is needed.

I am more concerned about the reality than the stats... I hate going into rooms where there are 20 people and its dead quiet and no response to a hello even .. are they are whispering dog?
Maybe i hope for too much .. not enough nice people for my liking.

This has become a much bigger problem since it became possible to be in many rooms at the same time. I suspect some people get in a deep conversation in one room and forget to look at the other rooms they are still in.
