I can't select my USB cam in chat - only the built in laptop cam - any ideas as to how I can use an external cam?

Yep same here on mac, looks like no option to switch on html5 cam least flash (yuk) had the option to select cam.

I use a usb cam on my pc,  but then its not a laptop, so no built in cam.  When i have used my laptop , i have had to disable the built in camera for the usb one to work.  Just a thought...

But on a mac you have to go through terminal to disable the cam, to be honest true html5 integration can be set to pick cam at user level, i believe the way SH has it setup is default behaviour which is too pick the first default  webcam which on laptops is integrated camera,

i use a mac with a usb cam, you right click on the cam settings in flash, then select your usb cam, simples

We had the same problem here earlier - the laptop's built in cam being selected automatically without any way of choosing our USB webcam. I believe this problem is related in some way to Chrome recently deciding to stop supporting  Adobe Flash Player.   I've just tried accessing our camera here in chat via IE and the old familiar Flash player settings box appears and it's possible to select either cam as before.  How long this will be possible I have no idea but for now both cameras are working here.

On another site we frequent they've had a similar problem with Chrome users suddenly being unable to access their chatroom cams. The 'solution' was the same but it might not last long as Flash Player is increasingly being dropped.

Have fun while you can guys...  smile

Thats right adding swingingheaven to trusted sites got around the previous flash issue, but with latest chrome the option to select cam (old flash settings) has gone and the stream is pure html5, which is the future no doubt, but will need the devs to put a user flag to select the cam, as usually html5 based systems select the first cam or default which on a laptop is the webcam.

If you are happy playing with Windows settings you can go to "device manager", find the internal camera, right click and choose disable device. That should leave the USB cam as the first/default device. Just remember to re-enable it before you need to use it next.
