Hi,
We've received a dozen reports regarding some webcam problems since Adobe Flash Player was updated to version 11.2 (release date was 28/03/12).
The reports suggested problems that when a user attempts to turn on their webcam, a still frame is shown rather than a continuous stream or the cam is streaming but remains 'zoomed in'. It doesn't seem to be effecting everyone however.
The problem has been discussed on the where Adobe staff have indicated that they are looking into the problem and are welcoming bug reports.
For any one effected, you can downgrade your Flash Adobe version (back to 11.1) by visiting this link:

The download is 174 MB and will need to be extracted from it's zip format and then ran as an executable file.
We hope that Adobe are working on the problem and that they will be very shortly releasing a new update to fix this.
Admin,
in other Flash Player related news.................
More than half a million Apple computers have been infected with the Flashback Trojan / virus.
Java's developer, Oracle, issued a fix to the vulnerability on 14 February, but this did not work on Macintoshes as Apple manages Java updates to its computers.
Apple released its own "security update" on Wednesday - more than eight weeks later. It can be triggered by clicking on the software update icon in the computer's system preferences panel.
The security firm F-Secure has also posted detailed instructions about how to confirm if a machine is infected and how to remove the Trojan,
What is Flashback ?
Flashback was first detected last September when anti-virus researchers flagged up software masquerading itself as a Flash Player update. Once downloaded it deactivated some of the computer's security software.
Later versions of the malware exploited weaknesses in the Java programming language to allow the code to be installed from bogus sites without the user's permission.
Whilst this is not related to ADMIN or HnS's posts, Android users be aware that current updates above Adobe Flash Player 10.1 cause the chat to freeze.
For now I've switched off automatic updates on my Phone for flash, sticking with ver 10.1 which seems stable.
Oh joy it doesnt work!
I really dislike these so called professionals at companies like Microsoft and Abode!
Stop playing games and get on the job
All I'm getting when trying to view cams in chatroom is a green screen - Adobe update is installed to version 11.2 is it just me?

Have you tried using " System Restore " to a point prior to the upgrade of flash? Just ensure that a recent " Restore Point " had been created though, alternatively remove the version you have and install a lower version.
As our cam has always worked perfectly on here but fails to stream now we checked our Flash Player and have the dreaded 11.2 version update due to auto updates.
Have tried following the link advised above to download version 11.1 which comes in a Zip file.
Have now got said Zip file on desktop but how the hell do we get it to run as an Executable file as told ???
When we click on it we get the option to open it and extract files .....but then what ??? How do we get to the option to run ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as its doing our heads in lol. Cheers ....Nucouple .

Usually, when you open a zip file it should let you 'extract' the contents to a folder on your PC. When it's done that, go to that folder using Windows Explorer and you should find a .exe file to run from there.
NB: Only ever run .exe files if you know/trust the source of the file.
Hi Cubes, have extracted from the Zip file to a folder on desktop. However when i go into it I cant find the Exe. file you mention ?
Theres 1 folder, which when opened contains a further 3 folders ( 32 bit ....32 bit debug and 64 bit plus a readme file.) No sign of an Exe. file anywhere alas .

I haven't downloaded the zip file myself so I'm working off suppositions here, but I suspect you may have hidden the extension view for known file types.
When you open the folder on the desktop, click on the Tools menu and select Folder Options. From there click on the View tab, and look for an option which says something like: Hide extensions for known file types. If that's checked, uncheck it and Apply/close the box. You might want to reverse that after you've finished with the update.
Now open a new Windows Explorer and find the entry called 'Computer'. Right click on it, and select Properties. Somewhere in there it should tell you if you have a 32 or 64 bit operating system. Based on that you'll know which of the extracted folders you'll need to go to to find the .exe file.
Hopefully that will get you on the road to recovery. ;)
I downloaded this the other night to try and help some one so I could talk them through it and from what I can remember Cubes has got it pretty spot on...
Find out if your running 32 or 64 bit then the .exe folder should be in the corresponding folder.
I think, it was a few nights ago and my memory isn't what it used to be loon
I'm having the problems too. When I log in chat may it be here or else where my cam just freezes. I have clicked the link to downgrade my Flash but have not got a clue what to do with the Zip file from there.

11,2,202,233 installed
Granted this is the 64-bit version running on Win 7 (64) with IE 8 (64) and works perfectly.
So might be worth those running quite new laptops/desktops to check whether they have Win 7 64-bit operating system, and then if so to run IE 64-bit version and download the relevant 64 bit version of Adobe Flash Player.

He folks,
I hope this helps to fix your cam issues....
Adobe have not made it easy to run this fix but I got it to work like this:
you can downgrade your Flash Adobe version (back to 11.1) by visiting this link:

Once downloaded you will have to unzip the content to your PC or MAC.
Select the operating system you have and use the relevant folder.
Run the uninstall
Restart your PC
Go back to the folder relating to your operating system and find the 2 .msi files
Do it like this
Example:
Run flashplayer11_1r102_63_win_
Now reboot
Run flashplayer11_1r102_63_winax_
Your cam should now work
Good luck n happy chatting….
Ste

Thanks for that...cam now works :!: lol :!:

OK for anyone else having the greenscreen problem since the Flashplayer update - I have found the solution.
Right click on the camera you are trying to watch and click settings
Click on the first tv icon on the left
Untick USE HARDWEAR ACCELERATION
Worked for me - hope this helps

Hi all, is anyone else having problems watching the cams in the chat room? The cams take ages to load if they load at all and if they do then they are really slow often frozen for a few minutes.
I often find they don't load at all and then I get a message saying "You have been disconnected from the video server"
Any ideas?

I do occasionally have the same issues as what you describe.
It isn't the software (flash) cos when the cams work they work but the software is the same (process of elimination etc)
I put it down to my somewhat piddle poor BT connection, they state 8mb I'm lucky if i get 2mb and if we're late in paying the BT bill as sure as I can be our connection gets real flaky and although they wont admit it I reckon they're choking our connection.
Sos I can't be any more help than that and where usually I'd suggest you head for a flash/browser update as a possible cause I dont think with what you describe and what I also sometimes experience it's anything other than connection to here via your service provider.
But as is usual, what do I know *smiling*
You could also try raising a ticket with support?

Use the Department drop down and select 'chatroom'
Good luck and if you do manage to get any resolution to your problem be sure to come back and update the thread.

Art,
Further to Toots suggestion, we've also seen the "You have been disconnected from the video server" occasionally.
This has always been when we've been away from home and using laptops via hotel wifi, mobile internet dongles, etc. When encountered we've run a few speed test checks to get an idea as to the actual connection we are getting and almost certainly found that it's nowhere near delivering what was actually being promised by the provider. As a camera download/session can be quite bandwidth hungry, it seems that this session is being 'ceased' so as to maintain the main Chat and site sessions.
If your speed test checks similarly reveal bandwidth constraints, then we've tried to minimise these by changing our Chatroom Settings so that instead of Cams coming through as 'ultra' quality we've stepped these down to a lower setting and/or not had as many Cams running as well. Depending on how 'poor' the bandwidth is, then doing this has helped maintain sessions with the "video server", though occasionally bandwidth has been that poor we've just not had sufficient to even bother with Cams and just carried on in Chat.
As for Adobe Flash, which Toots mentioned, then there is a free version check page which Adobe provide, , so that people can check which version they are on and then follow the onscreen prompts to download the latest version as well. However there is a 'health notice' with this for those using 32-bit versions of operating system/browser/Flash mentioned earlier in this thread.
(We mention 32-bit as we've had the same issue on one of our 32-bit machines, but never encountered that reported issue when using any of the 64-bit computers. If your computer is new within the last couple of years and has more than 3Gb of Ram/memory, it might be running 64-bit operating system so rather than using the default 32-bit browser try using the usually installed 64-bit version and obviously the 64-bit version of Flash.)
Hope this helps
I had the same problem with my laptop, however I tried something that at least sorted the problem out. Certainly at my end.
I simply installed "splitcam". I know I shouldn't advertise it, but it sorted out the still image problem for my cam.
Instead of telling SH to look at my cam, I told it to look at the "splitcam" cam, and low and behold, I could see my cam all working and everything was fine.
Yet, if I switched back to the cam direct, it froze and did nothing.
Worked for me.
If it works for anyone else, stick a reply on this thread.
Gotta be worth a shout.
IM me if you need any help.
Guv
nothing is working on this website
nothing is working on this website
camera still not working... i do not know how many software i need to install to make it work..
adobe , and extract the files .. nightmare..!

the message i keep getting is " the following plug-in has crashed ! shockwawe flash !"
Thank you VERY much. I too was zapped by the latest damn updates so after reading your message, I downgraded back to V 11.
Many thanks. Much appreciated. wink
Today i downloaded the latest version of flash player....
This seems to have cured the problems that some have been having with frozen cams....
I just tried it - once - and it worked fine! - hopefully others will be able to confirm this...
The latest can be downloaded by using control panel, flash player, and follow your noses!
