After watching Strictly confidentail last week my wife has revealed she likes the idea of her and us being watched and even likes the idea of swinging. Wowee Christmas already!!! On that basis anyone any suggestions on the most suitable form of webcam or doesn't it matter?
A nice clear cam is good - altho some do ask for you to spotlight areas rolleyes
Lots ask for sound but i turn mine off - dont like to hurt their poor ears :giggle:
Yes it does matter get a LOGITECH for about £50 - cheap webcams are a waste of time. Most fuji digital cams have a webcam setting so u can use them and quality is excellent
one of the best is logtech stx check my camming if you see me xxxx
I`ve noticed that some pics are less jerky than others i.e more frames per minute.
Is this a "you get what you pay for" thing?
I`m considering getting a cam but dont know where to start although reading the above it seems a Logitech would be a good buy...
Any of the Logitec range are a good buy.
Most, if not all now, have built in mics.

The make and model of webcam doesn't really make any difference.
The main criteria to look for when purchasing your cam are:-
1) the resolution of the cam. - Dont chose anything less than 640 x 480.
2) The refresh rate (as mentioned in a previous post, the higher the better).
Then the other factors that make a good cam are actually controllable by the user.
Good lighting. By that I don't mean 500W of blinding light aimed directly at the cam. You will need to experiment with ceiling lights, desk lamps etc. Even uplighters if you want to remove shadows.
Focus.- So many people have their cams out of focus. I keep having to check I've got my glasses on.
Personally, I use an old Intel cam. On the rare occasion I do go on cam, the picture quality is always good. It's only the contents that's scary.

Look for a CCD webcam as the light sensitivity is much better than CMOS-based ones. Philips SPC900NC or Apple iSight are top quality ones if you don't want to appear dim & blocky! biggrin There are a few other makes that use CCDs. Supermarket webcams are best left on the shelves.
