They do indeed but as has been said take care of yourself when out.
Maybe a way to start would be to look out for adverts from people using locations that interest you. You could then arrange to meet up (eg with a couple) rather than just turn up and hope. Some would say that this isnt really dogging and they would have a point but it might be easier to start as a lone female. Of course if you need a chapperone....

Hi Louise - I have been doing this for years and I have cum across a few lone females doggers, but there are not that many these days.
Probably mainly to do with the number of boy racers and pushy male doggers about.
It depends where you go.
A fab encounter I had once was at {cannot say but in the NW} about 2 years ago. I was just hanging about occasionally driving from 3 sites in the area when I noticed an estate car and by chance there seemed to be just a female in the driving seat.
I stopped and made the right signals and was invited over.
I rally expected to see a tranny - has often happens :-) but no the lady was gorgeous and upon further detailed inspection later confirmed that she didn't and never had a tally whacker. She was all woman... and awesome at that.. she just wanted some fun as patr of her fantasy.
She was the last lone female I have seen at a doggin site - I must have made a great impression then :-)
However it would be awsome if you could change that for me... I would love to cum across you somewhere.....
