In a past job, I got to travel the country a bit and visited one or two car parks off my local beaten patch. What I noticed was that dogging technique varied from region to region...for instance...
Manchester (a park not far from a Motorway that has had its number changed) - everyone parks up, gathers in the woods and sneaks around quietly on foot when they see a car parked up with a couple in it.
London (going back a while to when a park near Heathrow Airport was still open after 6pm) - all the guys parked up and gathererd together in one big mothers meeting in the centre of the car park, making it obvious to any couples who and now many "interested" onlookers they had on site.
Bristol (where you also encounter Badger watchers) - People park up and walk about weaving in and out of the other parked cars.
Birmiingham - guys stay in their cars and drive around and don't exit their cars until it is obvious that a show is on.
Notts - broadly similar to Birmingham.
Now all this is all well and good, until an "out of towner" uses the wrong technique in the wrong place. Like I was given a rollocking when in London for drivng from one part of the car park to another (standard Brummie practise) In the Smoke, once you are parked you are parked til you go home, or something like that...
Also on my patch, the opposite has had a detrimental effect. Couples who "grew up" with guys pulling alongside in their cars now have guys who have learned of the places on the internet wandering all over the place on foot. Probably totally second nature to the guys concerned, but scary to the couples as it's not what they are used to.
We have seen "Doggers Guides" on here, but how about fine-tuning these guidelines with a bit of regional variation? What have other people experienced on their patch / their travels?
