My wife and I pulled in to Hunts Hill last night about am and found 2 cars in the car park one with its interior lights on. We drove up to see what was going on and realised that the car with its lights on was a cop car. I think they may have been talking to the man in the other drove out to find somewhere else togo and the old bill then came out and followed us .They stopped us after about a mile and I got out. They asked why I had gone into the car have a wild guess. He then said it was illegal to be in the park after dark due to ancient by laws. Isaid i didn't realise and asked why they were in there and they said because bad things went on in there . So be warned i suppose they will be at other sites as well.

Me being me I'd have asked them to quote which by laws they where refering to as I've never heard of public land with a curfew. (This is after I'd have reminded him that by laws are a civil and not a criminal matter and there by not the province of the Police.) I'd then ask for said officers number and the next day I'd be down the town hall inspecting said by laws and if I found he was lying to me I'd be contacting his superiors - AND every defence solicitor whose clients had ever been sent down as a result of his evidence.

You know I got a lot of respect for you... after all, you been doing this a lot longer than I have.
But coppers and people and most that I've come across (and there's a branch of my family that are ALL policemen and women) are just the same as the rest of us. They get shit from upstairs and they've got to fill in those little books by the time they get back to the factory and doggers are a soft touch. Despite years and years of trying they haven't stamped out prostitution, so doggers are the next best thing and they can then be seen to 'uphold public decentcy'.
As you say... there's no point in stirring them up. A quiet life is a good life. But when coppers start pushing their luck - as per the opening account of this thread - that's when I spit back. The Police AREN'T the law... they are simply there to enforce it. They can't enforce a law which doesn't exist purely for the sake of getting their quotas filled.
