Having a car really does help! trust me, i've had very little sucsess when i've been out playing since my car went. Sometimes, you may get lucky just by walking around (i did one time) but there gets a point when it gets so cold that you can't even feel your penis let alone use it lol, and it seems like it would just be a better idea to go home.
It's not just that, but if there are any nutters or police knocking around, a blokey on foot is 25,000 times more likely to get into trouble.
