I think you'd better have a read of the sexual offences act/s
Esp the one to be law very soon, if not already so, which makes sex in a public place, by being "reckless" as to whether others see the act, a criminal offence.
In fact, interpreting the new act/s could make "our" sort of practice perfectly legal...ie: no offence is committed if the couple don't mind people watching...
There is no law against watching people having sex, at the moment. But if they don't want you watching you could find yourself on the wrong side of behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace.
Police Obstruction.
It is an offence if you wilfully obstruct a police officer in the execution of his or her duty. This is widely used by the police at demonstrations and in other public order contexts. Wilful obstruction of a police officer means simply doing any act which makes it more difficult for the police to carry out their lawful duty. The offence can only be tried in Magistrates' Court and the maximum penalty is one month's imprisonment and/or a fine up to £1,000.
The above law is frequently used to arrest people who fail to move-on when requested.
Personally, I see no reason or logic in getting up their noses. They are doing a job. I just smile and talk nicely....they know the score. Most of them are nice guys anyway...
I have read all of the Acts that relate to sexual offences, thanks Jomu. What you are talking about is NOT law - it is still under proposal. Of course if these things are made statute, we all have a problem. You are right, however, that if the police choose to they can ask you legally to move on - there is nothing we can do about this except simply move on to another site  . Let's all be sensible about this - yes the police know the score, but it's time that people realised that the police actually don't have as many powers as we think they do.
Things may be arrested for:
If the police have reasonable grounds for believing that an arrest is necessary to prevent you causing physical injury to yourself or to somebody else, or suffering physical injury, or causing loss of or damage to property - including your own, or committing an offence against public decency, or causing an unlawful obstruction of the highway.
Lets not get pedantic about this, please.
The police have a crappy enough job to do without someone getting shirty in a car park, at night.
The "sexual offences act 2003" is, in fact, proceeding through the amendments stage in the house of lords. It should be law by the end of the year or sooner. If the government decide to pass it back after removing the amendments it may take longer. They won't.
You're in a public area for the purpose of sexual gratification, if seen by a member of the public it is an offence....now.
When the act is passed you won't even have to be seen by a member of the public...the law seeing you will be enough.
Lots of things will need to be considered WHEN the act becomes law. Life will go on. Until then, don't wind the police up because you think they cannot do anything. They have enough power to fuck your life up IF they want to....how much more do they need ?. Prompted by the prats in local councils (quite adept at closing parks and car parks) they may decide to go way over the top.
Now, think about this. WHEN the S.A act 2003 becomes law voyeurism becomes a specific sexual offence ....so, will forums such as this have a problem with aiding and abetting an offence ?
Or will the parties involved sign statements admitting consent ?
And does anybody GIVE a shit !
Mind you, if you get out of the car park BEFORE they ask you they always ask you what you drove out for !!
Strange sometimes...
None of which changes the fact that there are not enough police officers around for us to ever risk having huge queues of doggers outside the magistrates court on a Monday morning.
making something illegal has never stopped people doing it, if it did, there would be no crime, just means the stakes are higher if you get caught.
We all weigh the risks when we adopt a swinging way of life - in any form.
Be sensible, if a police officer asks you to move on, then move on. Blue's original comment was not that we should in any way give the police a hard time, if I read it right, Blue is saying, Don't feel you have to cower like a naughty school boy/girl when a police officer speaks to you. Just look them in the eye and answer the questions.

Hey, I've had some good chats with law in car parks and at the roadside...they stopped me in MK one night and said they'd seen me driving into a few car parks and asked why...I said I was looking for sex and they asked me if it was with anyone in particular....maybe they knew where the person was I was looking for !!
As to there not being enough law...ok...but car parks and parks in or near towns will always get checked...and salcey is checked regularly...believe me...it is...as are Mk car parks..
Good answer, Jomu!
I got caught late at night by a cop in a park (a well known cruising ground at the time) once when I was very young and very silly - I wasn't actually doing anything, just checking the place out - so when he asked me what I was doing I said I was doing nothing, which was true. Anway, he ended up asking whether I would like a lift home... who said all cops are nasty, I like the cops! (I said no, btw!)
