Where have the Truck Drivers Gone?

Hi all.
Not been here that long, and not had a chance to read every post, but one thing that strikes me is that no mention has been seen of Truckies anywhere. Yet there is hardly a car park around that the Truckies don't know about and frequent.
Er, just thought, are they Truckies or Truckers??? redface

Frankly I find your remarks about truck drivers both insulting and ignorant. You seem to be suggesting that we're unwashed, unhygienic filth. What's your problem?
Before you fire off such ill-informed opinions again you'd do well to consider that many of us do our best in this country to maintain standards of decency and hygiene in the face of a sad lack of decent facilities for us to use. In mainland Europe this is not the case.
Also, the trucks you complain about parking in your playroom spot are there because the drivers have to take a daily rest of between 9 and 11 hours and it's sometimes very difficult to find anywhere to park. Remember that when we're on the road we are working. You're just playing when you're there.
Sure, a proportion of us play when we're out. Most drivers have kettles and carry water. We do know how to use a flannel and soap you know!
I should imagine the percentage of unhygienic truck drivers just reflects the proportion of dirty people in the population at large.
I wouldn't have yours or anyone else's dirty muddy shoes or boots in my cab thank you very much.

Wrek, just cause you have had a really bad experience with one Trucker does not mean that they are all like that. Its like saying all women with blonde hair are a bit dizzy (ok some of us are dizzy, but not all of them).
It is anoying when the car parks are knee deep in mud but at least we have a choice about going the car parks, these guys are there for some much needed sleep after being on the road for days. If we dont like the Truckers watching our fun them maybe it is down to us active doggers to find car parks where they cant get in, that way they get their sleep (if thats what they want) and you get your fun!

The particual car park we are on about involves breaking a 7,5 Ton weight limit no matter which of the two routes are used to gain access and they most certainly are not delivering there loads there as the distribution center is further up the main road, who by the way provide facilaties for the drivers.
The damage caused by these wagons in un paved country parks is not really on, why should the rest of us get dirty just so a trucker can pocket his night out money (I do know a bit about wagons)

oops, a bit of a hornets nest here.
For my part I take people as they come, and before the advent of the Internet, truckers and business reps were the best source of information that I ever had. As with all sectors of society, there are good, bad and ugly.
Individually, I have found most of them to be very pleasent chaps, and they do no harm on my patch (except for chuning up the grass verges on a golf course that is putting pressure for closure of access to it as a result), but I do notice that when a gang of them appear, things get a little sticky. This is especially true of an Irish company who send convoys of four or five 44 tonne trucks all of which squeeze into a small layby to park up for the night. The guys will then hang around the goalposted entrance to the car park looking like a picket line, glaring into any car that approaches...and guess what...you never see a couple enter the car park with them there.
Having contacts in the Local Authority, I have also heard that their parking technique has upset the Police as it prevents emergency services from getting past to get to any grief stricken person or car on the car park. Have a guess what the consequences might be???

Thistruck driver doesn't go in car parks unless they are plenty big enough andof a hard surface.

I would agree.
Thistruck driver is out from Mon to Fri everyweek. Thistruck driver showers at every opportunity, which means sometimes twice a day. On the odd occasion I can't shower, I will either strip wash in, or at the side of the cab. But . . . . . . . .

Then come forward and complain to your Local Authority, or even the police. I, for my sins have been pulled 3 times for "breaking weight limit" Even prosecuted once, but acquitted.

Clearly not enough. I, and most "trampers" pocket our night out money, meal allowance and incidental payment, wherever we stay. Just so you know - I even get it if I stay in the yard or even when I get a chance for a night in the house. In actual fact; I lose out if I stay in layby/car park.

We had four decent spots locally, two of which are unusable now in winter due to artics turning, both have had the gate posts knocked over, both are now having cctv installed to stop it, they are now unusable so there for every one is now deprived!. The other two are that small that two artics fill the car park therefor once again unusable - result couples are meeting at houses/hotels.

Agree partly, how can you lose out if you stay in a layby? a night out is a night out, my drivers get it paid no matter where they stay and if they manage to get home, so what, thay had had a good day for a change.

If you knew dambuster you'd know that he displays a certain dry and wry sense of humour and is a popular member of this site. I don't believe he was being confrontational (in fact I thought the smiley was rather tongue in cheek. A humourous bop on the nose).
For what it's worth, when you stated "AND THAT IS WHERE THEY NEED TO STAY" you posted in capitals, which is considered shouting in the forum and you didn't clarify the statement until later when you'd been asked.
I took issue because I felt offended and insulted by your remarks. I'm not suggesting that you don't have some cause to complain about certain actions of a handful of truck drivers and the resulting effect on your neighbourhood, but you were wrong to tar us all with the same brush.
Dambuster has given you a considered reply, as a professional, experienced and responsible driver and it's a shame you haven't acknowledged or appear to have taken on board any of his or others' remarks on this thread.
Welcome to the site, indeed, but FFS slow down, chill out a bit, observe, listen and learn or you'll upset a lot of people. You haven't been here for two weeks yet.

Dunno why you guys are bothering really , he wont listen . The dogging world is peppered with men who love the sense of power and superiority they get from being part of a couple . Im sure many of them dont go for sexual kicks at all , but merely to get a little control and that " in charge" feeling from using their wife/girlfriend as a ticket . Ive read all the previous posts from him and it seems a common thread . I may be reading too much in , but I'd have a bet on the attitude being just as ive described . Arrogance bred of thinking he is doing a favour to the doggers and they owe him one for displaying his beautiful wife . Weve discussed many times the fact that couples need voyeurs as much as voyeurs need something to watch , its a mutual trade off and not a business transaction . One wonders if some individuals would be quite so vocal and confrontational if they werent trading on the promise of their womans charms and just had to rely on their own plus points to get by . I for one think not .
I spose everyone gets off in their own way , some are just more self focussed than others , Id love to hear her view on the matter but for various reasons id guess we'll never get that pleasure .

I cant believe the nerve of some people..... I AM a trucker and I AM proud of it and what I do. I own may own haulage business and just to give you ill minded people who like to slag us all off something to think about.............IF YOU HAVE IT, WE HAVE BROUGHT IT!! every single item you dare to mention has been on a truck at some point. When you go down to your local TESCO for your loaf of bread or pint of milk or whatever the case may be, myself and many others lads AND LADIES have worked bloody hard to get it there. Just on that note... there are alot of lady truckers on the road now......so does the slur about us being unclean, dirty, smeelly people include them then "WREK" from yorkshire????? I agree 1000000% with eagerslut, we are the back bone of this country and just pause and think about this for 1 minute....if it wasnt for us truck drivers, what would you have?.........thats right.....NOTHING! On a lighter note though......I would like to say a big thankyou to all the ladies who travel around the motorways of this country and give us eager truckers a flash of stocking top or more as they pass.....it brings a little happiness to a rather THANKLESS task! Only 1 problem.....we need to see more of the ladies who flash hehe! Oh and by the way if you were to see inside most of the truckers cabs, you would probably find they are as clean as most of your houses!!!

At risk of giving you an excuse to nick 5 or 6 quid back from your drivers, the loss is due to the lack of meal voucher from truck stops/msa.

Haven't been on the site for a while, not really been on the pc much but couldn't sleep so thought I would take a peek at whats going on.
I can't believe that someone who thinks that they are open minded enough to join a swinging site can be so narrow minded in their view of people!
We are all human, does it really matter if I work in IT, a truck driver, a nurse? No it shouldn't nor should it matter what colour my skin is, people can judge me for who I am as a person not what job i do, I do it to earn a living same as everyone else that works! I don't have time for people that have steriotypical views. Not all IT guys are "nerds" Not all truck drivers are mingers & uncaring (personally I think truckers are the most caring drivers on the road, but then am I being steriotypical?) & not all nurses are sexy things in stockings & suspenders!
Wrek I do think you are out of order on this one, do you actually know any truck drivers? & that when their limit is up on the amount of time they are allowed to drive, it's for your protection? They could have been stuck in traffic but are still only allowed to drive for a certain length of time ( I did know what it was called but can i think of it now!)
What would you rather have? A truker that not only breaks the law, but put others at risk & drive a little further to find a truck stop, or someone that knows their job & stops when they should (even if it's your park) & gets their deserved rest?????
Sorry to everyone else I did get on my soap box then! But I do hate anyone with steriotypical views & narrow minds

I hope Dazzle and TruckDrivinMan aren't "ganging up" now, as if to prove my point.
