Heard this on the radio to day and thought it may be of interest here
He believes Bradford Council’s decision to give planning permission for the homes breaches his human rights.
Mr Howard, 70, has done his gardening while naked since moving into his Coppy Road house almost two decades ago. Large fencing and bushes hide his activities from existing neighbours and a nearby hill.
Mr Howard said a council officer warned him his new neighbours could phone the police to have him arrested for indecency.

I say plant some large leylandii, that should keep the council busy for a while :giggle:

But really the whole thing is just sad! Why should he have to alter his non offensive behaviour in his own back garden? The laws surrounding public nudity are so tricky. He has to offend someone to be arrested but since offense is subjective how can it be fairly legislated against? Some people are offended by nothing! He should carry on doing what he's doing and if he's arrested fight his case! On the surface of it its pretty wrong.
Hope he's careful with his hedge clippers! lol
from what i have been told at studland recently it is no longer an offence to be naked in public any more it only becomes an offence if a sexual act or if an erection is taking place .
That makes much more sense!

Studland is a bit different as its a naturist tolerated area, but in public, even in your own garden, if someone thinks its indecent they can complain. Brit naturist association ( god bless their souls) have a team that are happy to fight this. Why they should have too is another matter.
Oddly, if the old man looked at his neighbors 17yo daughters sunbathing nude, who do you think the police would arrest ?

Its another example of how fucked up the attitude towards nudity is. Double standards at its finest.

So in his interview with a newspaper he has tried to qualify his story by injecting an authoritive figure.
If we stop and look at this story. Who enforces indecency laws? Who has the power of arrest? Has the police commented on this? Have they been approached?
This is why these stories make me giggle.......more at the outrage of people who comment on the story rather than the story itself.

Seing as how I'm one of the few who has commented on this story I'll say this: Outrage? Where? dunno
I would doubt much would come of this - its one of those strories about something that might happen. If he had been arrested already it would be a different thing but he hasn't as yet and possibly never will be. Still, the principal of it makes a good subject to debate. And that's why I joined in. wink

Depends on how pretty the 17 year old is I guess..... If she's an ugly tart, they might just get the men in white suits in to section the 70 year old pmsl
