And when I say they're off I don't mean Mrs T's knickers! This time. But you've probably guessed it's one of those 'goodbye' threads.
In around eighteen hours we will drop off our wonderful children with their grandparents and then travel together to our embarkation airport.
Mrs T is going to sub Saharan Africa to provide medical care, whilst Mr T is heading into Asia to enhance the emergency provision in remote areas. We will return in August, hopefully full of health and to a vibrating south west swing scene.
Some people may call us irresponsible parents for leaving our children for so long, but to that we say simply that they have three sets of grandparents, 6 blood uncles, 4 blood aunties and more cousins than you can shake a shitty stick at. We would rather leave them in the bosom of their family for four months, than work away separately and therefore leave them as a single parent lead for eight months with no stabilisation between one parent coming home and the next leaving.
In over nine years as members of SH we have met in person and online with some great people. We wont talk about our meets, but when it comes to online I, Mr T, have to say that the regular forumites are the people that help me come back day to day. Star, Gnv, Flower, Toots (when your not giving me grief in the chatroom about my arm!), easy, nola, rogue, HnS, Too hot and all the others, you make this site worthwhile during the day.
One person I should perhaps give some recognition too is Mr Mids himself. I sometimes wonder whether the rest of you look at our tussles in the same way as Star and Gnv? An online soap maybe. Jed, I can honestly say that though you feel, and have said, that I have destroyed the forums, and other stuff, that I have honestly enjoyed chatting and debating with you online. I would like for us to meet you sometime for a drink or two, because you and I have many similar views, it just seems unfortunate at times that one of us knows them better than the other! Keep posting, maybe you'll get good enough to win one day ;)
Right guys. Time for bed. We have a long weekend in front of us. We will, God willing, be back in August. We may very well be looking for chances to blow off steam, so feel free to let us know what's going on nearer the time. Our internet connection will be sketchy at best during the next few months because of our locations, and we will use it for our family. So take care all, have a great time doing what you are doing and above all...
Happy swinging :swingingchair:

sorry to see you go trev as you often bring balance to a debate
enjoy your time out both of you
Best of British in your endeavours Mr & Mrs Trev, look forward to you returning and regaling us with your exploits!
Think its great that your both off doing some good stuff so lots of respect from Lost. As for being irresponsible regarding your kids? I don't think so. More a case of being bloody good role models more like.
Have a great time and if you get chance look in and post and tell us how your getting on.
total respect....come back safe.
xxx
I am sure your kids will miss you, of course they will, but I can't think of a better lesson for them to learn respect, respect for what you are leaving them to do, respect for their other relatives and respect for the need sometimes to put others before yourselves.
Take care in the boonies, there are some nasty little things live there and they are normally two legged, come back safe, I envy you the experience and admire your convictions.
And yes I will miss our conversations as I believe I understand you and them better since the conversations when I thought it better to leave the forums than stay, I always maintain I learn from the forums and I learnt something back then.
Sounds like a wonderful adventure for the both of you, I hope it brings the rewards you anticipate and more! smile
I'll miss you while you're gone Trev. You're a voice of reason on here most often, and whether I agree with you or not on any given subject what you say makes me think. That is the whole point really, isn't it?
Enjoy your travels, see you in August I hope.
Best,
Neil x
If it's MSF you're trapping with you're in good hands but if not then you'll still most likely be in good hands. Your chillun will be just fine, extended fuss and party times while momma and poppa bears are away.
Have fun, stay safe and come back soon....*sniff* cos wivout that shoulder I'll have nuffin to cry on *more sniffing*
Vaya Con Dios
Trev,
We'll just call it a 'research break' as sure you'll come back in August with a wealth f new experiences, knowledge and perspectives to share and discuss within the forums, anything for a more informed debate is always a winner whether agree or not, it's all knowledge and progresses things.
Time will soon fly
ciao for now
Although we've never spoken we have often read your posts in the forums with interest.
After reading through your plans for the summer just wanted to say good luck. Admire your spirit and conviction for helping others less fortunate than yourselves.
Good luck guys, look forward to your tales on your return.
Hi all, guess who is back? Well for a short while anyway.

Who ???
lol
Just some n00b HnS. Ignore him, he might go away. Don't want anything to disturb the equilibrium now, do we?
Can tell you're playing catch-up Trev. Not seen so many threads bumped all ay once in ages. The forum's a veritable hive of activity! lol
So, come on then. Whatcha been up to?
Hope everything went well and yes, I for one missed your contributions to the forums lol
Great to see you back Trev
Hi guys, thanks for the nice comments, see we can all be nice sometimes wink
Don't get me wrong we aren't back in the UK yet, I'm just having a few days respite. I'll be back on the job again tomorrow for the 'back nine'. We will still be back in August as planned, and possibly on the move again to Oxford.
Hi Trev,
Bring the sun with you when you're coming back lol
Hi all.
We are finally back in the UK and following a weekend of family reunions it's time to start enjoying ourselves again smile

worship Hello guys!
I missed this thread first time round - was in a bit of a self-imposed site exile due to work pressure - so had no idea you'd been on such an amazing trip.
Total respect to you both for giving up your time and experience.
Hope you had a rewarding time.
Nola x
As an observer, this is a very poignant thread, given previous posts.
Hello Trevaunance. I'd say welcome back, but that's a bit presumptuous of me. Bet the site looks a bit busy at the mo and there's a lot of catch up to do.
Welcome back
I hope you both had a good trip and your kids enjoyed thier 'other' family time.
I don't know you, but welcome back wave
WB Trev, hope you both had an amazing life experience!
Thanks everyone. Nice to see some new life around the forums and no doubt I'll get to chat with all you newbies/rebies at some point soon smile
Now, how do we get the kids to bed so we can use the chatroom!
welcome back.
nice to see you again
