Are you really open minded and accepting of others?
I think I am. This premise that one should forgive those children with diagnosed disorders whilst villifying naughty kids is a case in point. I strongly believe that people of whatever age are very complex and compassion and understnading rather than hatred and dismissal are important in resolving the issues. (Cue the bleeding heart lefty liberal fall out for that one.)
With newpapers and television obsessed with villifying individuals and groups in societies it really is no surprise. But then you have to bear in mind that these mediums pander to the popular view and i suppose its fairly easy to venture that human beings take great delight in looking down in horror at other human beings. Fairly primitive behaviour that our chickens exhibit should one of them show any sign of weakness. They are a little more extreme and peck it to death.
I think human beings, most of whom have greater powers of reasoning than the average chicken should strive to overcome such tendencies. I try and often fail. Thats the best I can manage.

It would seem that my initial comment regarding my son who has Autism has caused quite a debate!!
If this discussion has made just one person take a step back and think before judging the naughty child in the supermarket, park, etc then I feel that my job is done.... Many bricks have to be laid in order to build a wall.
I never judged people prior to having my son as I have been priviledged enough to know many children with various disabilites (many are sadly no longer with us) as my brother had a physical disability.
I can however see how people can confuse children with behavioural problems as naughty kids but I will not apologise for him or their ignorance. I do not feel the need to print T-shirts or cards.
I feel that the following statement works well:
"If I could cure my sons Autism for his benefit and the benefit of my other children then I would not hesitate to do so but for the benefit of the ignorant people in this world, he is perfect just the way he is"
This does not fail to produce a 'squirm' and knowing that just one of the ignorant people in the world will think twice before judging in the future is enough for me!!

I must say I found this funny, not in that the little girl was funny, but just in the contents of this forum and the way 777 and powers snipe at each other powers I thought you were quick to pick up on that comment, I did laugh myself as I saw the funny side of it. lol
