Since we are simply posting google links rather than using our words to argue

i just googled chomsky is wrong lol
i failed to see the personal dig though.

storys of greed jealousy and the other 7 deadly sins are biblical its something we have always done kaz and im afraid we always have been the same .self destruction is a path we have been following since we left the caves
if its not human nature why do we continue to follow these traits ?
history would suggest otherwise....we have as a species and as nations through co-operation improved our living standards, extended our lifespans and the quality of the life we have..the (relatively)recent advent of global commerce as we know it has presented us as a species with a fork in the road....we have up to the present been following the wrong path, and this is that has caused the downturn in the fortunes of the less wealthy...it is by no means inevitable or the cause of some inbuilt suicide gene

interesting thought but i do believe wars over land and religion and more recently oil have been raging since man picked up his first rock and it would argue against what is too often widely believed as a civilised world dunno

And still despite the wars the religious differences and everything else we are where we are....We've been to the moon FFS! you still think we have some inbuilt path to self destruction...even the wars show how good we make decisions based on past experience...as a race we need to read our history differently, you see evidence for our greed and selfishness, even in that I see evidence of our ability to transcend our own personal nations and individuals we need to improve the way every member of our society interacts with their surroundings and give them a more positive set of experiences on which to base their decisions...and (as kenty likes to say) with respect I don't think your way (or what I guess your way is)will ever do 's why I'm a socialist/marxist/communist/lefty/pinko....delete as you see fit

of course i do my local town is a prime example on any given weekend to how our society has crumbled i see with my eyes not with my heart
when you see so much of a bad thing you know that fixing the problems would take something along the lines of marshal law i do think society is past a good talking to or even has the ability to listening
like every other good ideal`s it won`t happen in our life times and certainly wont work if i does i promise i come find you and buy you a beer
iv`e said before i know im privileged to be in the position i am, but one of sad benefit`s to this has been to watch places like the Maldives turn from one of the most vibrant oceans in the world to a black n white picture . do enough people care ? short answer no!! if we cant save the planet that supports us then we got no hope for saving society

What you see in your local town is nothing new...Shakespeare was writing about gangs 400 years ago...what you don't and wont see under recent governments is any realistic attempt to tackle the problems you believe are so insurmountable, you're wrong they're quite easily solved it just involves a step many aren't prepared to take..stop condemning people and start trying to understand them...unfortunately this gets anyone pilloried in the press, because a united society doesn't serve their purposes and politicians are nothing if not media whores....it will come, it may take a long time, but as we can see with our eyes capitalism is in crisis and will (if not now ,later) collapse ....I look forward to that pint

it might be so but does it not say we are no different 400 years on
i like your ideals and agree that a politician is the same regardless of party
i don`t have a lot of faith in humans as caring. loving .all for one. one for all types i`ve spent too many years dealing with the public to know otherwise (my experience`s though )
id rather not go into what i contribute but i do try to do my bit
thanks for spending the time to share your thoughts with me it has been enlightening
and i do appreciate the time taken to debate this with me on an adult level
