A good news story for once...

Forget the blots on the seascape... Wave technology for an island like the UK has to be the way to go...
And if they are arranged around harbours (not blocking them of course) it will reduce the amplitude of the waves a bit.
Aye, its a good use of free energy. Though the best method of harnessing the energy from the sea is tidal.
I like this, as has been said, they could be used to protect some of our "in danger" shorelines whilst harnessing energy for the nation, our little island with its limited natural resources needs all the "self generated" help it can get.
Nice one Mr Dyson but perhaps some of the other mega rich moguls should invest a little more in such projects and less in football players £2000 for research, £85 million for a player ?
Wouldn't it be good if with large scale investment in such renewable energy resources and such vast shorelines we could one day be supplying Europe and the middle east with power for its industry, commercial, domestic requirements and indeed its electric cars breaking the stranglehold of the oil cartels smile

It still baffles me how tidal energy has not yet been fully harnessed. We are an island surrounded by a sea that has significant tidal ranges and which is constantly on the move. You only have to look at "the swellies" in the Menai Straight or watch the Seven bore to get an idea of the energy involved.
