Britons want William to be next Monarch

I think I'd have to agree.
Queen Elizabeth in her mid 80's is showing every sign that she will outlast Victoria and her mother and if she does as she swore she would do when she was crowned, she will not abdicate.
In 20 more years time, Charles will be even more of fruitcake than he is now and it has every potential to destroy the institution of the Monarchy if he were to become King.
His suggestion about the acceptance of a Queen Camilla indicates just how out of touch he might be the public mood.
But what action can be taken by the British public to sway matters here?

We can keep our fingers crossed that Charles pops his clogs before the Queen........
I share your views GNV but I think the British public will be largely apathetic on the matter and that any general hostility towards Camilla becoming Queen will have softened with the passage time.
I think there is a valid argument that even if HMQ fell off the twig this week, the heir is already past retirement age, and has made a life for himself without being King.
I have no axe to grind against Camilla, and tradition has the King's wife being Queen Consort, I think Victoria was unusual in not letting Albert be King Consrot and relegating him to Prince. It wouldn't matter a jot to what the consort is required to do anyway - lots of charitable appearances and such like.
I love the idea of the King of this fine country having been a full career, serving miltary man. He also has plenty of sense about him - I'm not saying is a true scholar (the last true scholar King was Edward the Confessor I reckon) but he isn't thick. I wouldn't say he's all that out of touch either. Better than many I could mention in the Royal family.
I'll be interesetd if Kate has it avbout her to take control of her life and tell the flunkies where their input stops.
The next couple of decades could be very interesting and may see some major changes in how the Royals see themseves and how they behave. Change from within quite possibly.
Did anyone see The Student Prince with Robson Greene? That was an interesting view of the future of the Royal institution.
I want to see Charles as King. For no other reason than tradition.

I like Charles, I think he is very in touch with this country after seeing and reading about the work of the princes trust. He set up this trust and uses his position to get local businesses to invest in people in poorer communities. He isn’t a man out of touch but I think a very caring man that is so misunderstood. I would like to see him as King I think he has waited long enough and should have his time. If he wanted to hand it to William I would respect that but not to give him his chance I think would be very unfair.
prince Albert could never have been king as is tradition that no one is above a monarch ... queen Victoria was monarch and therefore a king is above a queen and Albert was therefore made a prince consort. its as simple as that. it is the same reason that prince Philip is not king and is also a prince consort.
when king Edward 8th abdicated for Mrs Simpson it set in the queens mind that abdication was not an option she was willing to make and i am sure she will have made it clear to Charles that him remarrying a divorcee would only be replaying the past and would not be acceptable
If Charles abdicated, would it go to Prince William or Prince Andrew?

It would go to William

Why did the queens uncle not pass it down and it went to her father instead........

Not because of his relationship to the Queen though? (thinking hard) But because of his relationship to Queen Victoria? I may have to look that up.
