Can 2 grand actually buy you anything nowadays?
Give the Tories another 3 years and 5 grand won't be worth much and you certainly will not be able to afford to drive a car. lol
Save your money and keep fit..........buy a dog. :bounce:

Never ever ever BUY a dog
why?
Plenty of lovely dogs currently residing in rescue centres up and down the UK...
All desperately looking for a forever home....

Indeed it can....
It would buy 4 of the car I currently have...
Never missed a beat....
Not even an advisory at it's last MOT and the only work I needed to do to it when I went to Scotland in it was check the tyre pressure and fill the washer bottle...
I'll never spend more that £750 on a car again.....No point.....

So some kind fella will just come along and give me an 9 to 13 week old puppy German Shepherd?
Now I do believe in fairies.

Some kind bloke related to a mate of mine gave me a 8-10 week Belgian Shepherd for me mam absolutely gratis if that counts? Groenendael near enough for you Star? ;)
Me sis got a pedigree Staff long before they were weapons from Staffie rescue had papers showing his lineage to champions. Bit of a registration fee and they kept the KC papers and insisted on neutering before she took him at her ( minimal ) expense so he couldn't be bred from or sold but you'll never see a better Staff.

:

2 Wiemeraners and 1 Golden Cocker not a penny exchanged hands .... most people would have admittedly had to pay a rehoming fee but then again BB isn't most people

Good for you Steve, but on the whole newer cars are more reliable. But it goes without saying that an older car is usually more expensive to run and maintain than a newer car.
I have a couple of friends who have old cars and they go fine, but every time the MOT comes around they have everything crossed even their testicles. lol

Sounds great Mr staggers but I only want one breed of dog as a dog is for life, and not just for Christmas.
Away with the pixies us Staggers fella clearly? ;)

Possibly Neil, but you have to admit these are rather cute.

As Heineken would say...........
'Possibly' the best dogs in the world.
They're beautiful little bundles of fluff. I love German Shepherds, cracking dog when raised right, loyal as the day is long and completely fearless. Die for you a dog like that without even stopping to think about it, think it had served its purpose in life quite happily. Sad that that's what's exploited in them really. sad
Sold on the Belgians now though since I got me mam's. Never, ever seen a more placid dog and she could easily go some if she wanted, be seriously dangerous to man and beast. Just she doesn't want to, at all, can't be arsed with it and will walk away from trouble with a 'WTF's their problem mam? We're alrite though aren't we? Just checking.'. Upbringing of course as well as temperament but she was a lovely soft thing from day one, and nothing much beats a Belgian moving when in full flow, what with the grace and the feathering of the coat and tail and what not. Stunning dogs. smile

Could not agree more Neil.
But to be fair I have always believed that any dog is better than 95% of the human race.
Have you looked at rescue Star? There's specialist GSD ones all round the country quick Google tells me, plenty even down your way. Might have to wait for a pup, might drop lucky, often breeding line can be traced cos even the unscrupulous breeders out there look after their KC reg certs, where their value is, and genetic defects are often screened for by the rescue. You'll not be able to breed from them in all probability but that's not your concern is it?

With none of the more modern electronic engine management and electronic injection and EGR/Cat issues I counter it's more reliable and far easier and cheaper to repair if it does go wrong...
It's £70 just to plug in the diagnostic computer on a more modern vehicle and that's just to download and view any faults stored....
And if and when it fails it's MOT if it's going to cost more than about £150 to repair then off it goes to the crusher (or to be sold if someone wants it) and I'll get another one...
Get another 2 or 3 yrs out of that and so the circle goes :-)

Spent many a happy year in £500 drive 'em scrap 'em cars ... takes all the worry out of motoring
I have always believed that if you can't afford to drive it off the forecourt straight into a wall you can't afford to drive it

Strange that one Staggers, as I always thought that was what insurance was for. unless of course you don't believe in having insurance either as some republicans I hear refrain from purchasing such capitalistic things. lol

Well flower I note your concerns regarding corporations paying UK tax.
Therefore we need to find you a car made in the UK by a company that pays UK tax.
So that would be a Morgan or, yep a Morgan.
Enjoy.

What for 2 grand? rotflmao:rotflmao::rotflmao:
You was obviously aware of that fact Ben? I thought you may have said a Caterham ready assembled. wink
If your only going to use it over the next few months the 4x4 seems the best buy since the next few months are when 4x4's can get out and about where others can't in a icy/snowy/wrong type of leaves kinda way.

Jed,
That very much depends on the tyre choice for the4x4 and if is fitted with a difflock.
If a 4x4 can't put its traction down due to wheelspin/no grip then its just another road block!

what you want for snow is either a 2cv or Saab 900 .... or a nice Subaru Legacy, 4wheel drive and traction control (I may know someone who is becoming a little over familiar with the local petrol stations) lol
I got a 2CV!

I did mean buy a 4x4 fit for purpose not a fashion statement, for UK weather you could use part of the 3 grand to buy snow tyres then lol starting around £300 to £600 for the average car they will make an imense difference and can be used year after year if you swap them for the original standard tyres when the bad weather ends (or re-sell them) they don't last so long on summer roads.
