What was the first item of clothing and footwear you actually bought for yourself?
Let's not hear about girls replenishing their knicker stock at primark, nor the guys who bought a pair of socks because they didn't have a clean pair.
Did you, when mum no longer shops for you, treat yourself to a fashion item, or just a pair of jeans, or practical, or workwear, or what?
a Zoot Suit and a pair of Pod shoes! Long live the 80's!!
The first clothes I ever bought myself was a suit for work sad
At the ripe old age of 16 I left home and moved over 200 miles, (all very amicably) to start my new job, I bought myself a then very fashionable sleeveless jumper with the number 17 on the front, (yes trying to appear older), I was devastated when my wife threw it away, I was only 34 when she did and it had served me well and would have done for many years to come lol
One of the few benefits men get is being able to fit all our clothes into half a wardrobe, own only 3 pair of shoes, understand the offside trap and still be able to play with trains at any age.
First real proper item of clothing I brought myself was when I was 9. I had a car washing round going and brought myself a brand new pair of Levis jeans. My parents could not afford them at the time back in 1968, and at £5 a pair they were expensive.
I looked after them better than most things for years afterwards.

Two pairs of Brutus Gold drainpipe jeans.
A selection of Ben Sherman shirts.
A pair of Dunlop Green Flash.

I was soooo cool back then.
Nowadays everything I buy tends to be from M&S. :lol2:

True ...but then there's the wardrobe in the spare room ... the overflow drawers .... the bits hung on the back of doors ... the cupboard in the hall for coats ... it is nice to be able to keep to just the basics ... I still need to get somewhere to hang the hats though
I loathe buying clothes and would struggle to remember what I bought last week on the grounds of forgetting traumatic experiences. The only thing I can buy easily is pyjamas which I get at least 2 sizes too big (from maybe 2 shops in town) cos I like them roomy. Other clothes are too small, too see through, too expensive, too small, can't machine wash, don't suit me, did I mention too small?
Even thinking about shopping for clothes raises my stress levels by about 5 points.
Nice pair of staypress trousers and a white fred perry i bought .. love clothes now still .. tell a lot about someone what they dress like and wear .. heard its good shoes, posh watch and no white socks and your in with a chance .. so fickle the ladies arent they lads
