Hot news - King Kenny gets the sack and Saurez has a King Kenny t-shirt printed in protest.
Personally I think he should have stayed and kept the team mid table, but the supporters happy. I mean God forbid the owners, unlike the fans, might want to make progress.
Adios Kenny, no longer King and probably tarnished long ago from the sorry Suarez affair - his mid table position being a good enough excuse to give him the push.
Roy Hodgson for Liverpool anyone? Oh hang on a minute - he is England Manager now - the irony of the great game..........
why do supporters have to knock other managers instead of commenting on Dalglish. Fact is Roy Hodgson was not given the time at Liverpool, Ferguson's record speaks for itself...Dalglish has had the money to spend, and as of yet those transfers don't look good value. In my view one season is not really enough, and again the owners have acted in a knee jerk manor. For Lverpool it seems finishing 8th and below everton is not good enough !! Well I have news for you....get used to it. Liverpool are a spent force. Your name and proud history does not gain you points !! Supporters and it seems the owners, feel the team has a god given right to be in the Champions League !!
Hey it could be worse....you could be a Wolves suppporter like me !!!
Kenny obviously made one big mistake I think.
He did not ask the board and owners what they expected him to do with a club that were free falling down the premiership table and had big problems in the dressing room, I would have been telling the board that the best I could do was save them from relegation, bring some hope to the fans and with some cash, invest in some players that could start to gel together for next season. That if they wanted any guarantee of more they should give the managers job to Harry Potter because the magic was gone.
Things haven't been right at the club for many seasons, whilst Chelsea, Tottenham, City and the like have been investing big money on building teams, Liverpool have spent an average amount on above average players but not a team.
The Premier League has changed since the Liverpool glory days, Everton knew it, Kenny did ok with what he was given, for a while the sparkle was back on the pitch and they got some great results but they couldn't keep it up, they did brilliantly in the domestic cups and they brought silverware into the cabinet, how many clubs have done that this season, Manchester United didn't, (unless you count the Charity Shield win over Manchester City but that is not the kind of silverware that clubs cherish.
Shame on those that got the club in this position then sacked Kenny as the scapegoat.
I was against the support given to Suarez when we was in the wrong but that was just another bad descision of the board, it is obviously higher up than the manager that Liverpool fans should be looking to sack people, for resignations or for changes.
Sir Alex Ferguson, abassador for football, no of course he isn't but his achievments speak for themselves, the time when Managers could be ambassadors is long gone, now money and results are all that counts and if you want a job you have to forget the niceties and WIN.
So who is going to replace him???
All the talk and all the money seems to be on Martinez. Reading the comment on the various LFC blogs and comments on the Liverpool Echo news story it seems as though Sr Martinez will be getting the Roy Hodgson treatment from the "supporters."
No good enough, too small, no experience, not a big enough name blah, blah, blah. Who was de Matteo is terms of name, stature and experience? All that money wasted previously at Chelski and in the end a young, talented and hungry new manager got more out of the existing squad than any "name." before him and delivered two trophys including the Holy Grail.
Liverpool supporters seems like a deluded bunch to me. Not for one second will a big name Manager guarantee to bring what they seem to think is their right and any new name will be expecting a war chest to strengthen their squad which is probably not high on the American owners priority list. I reckon that the Owners are doing the right thing in looking for a young and hungry manager who can get more out of the team that the Club already has. Listening to real football people and people in the game, Martinez is very highly thought of all round and it will be a big loss to Wigan to see him go and a gain for Liverpool.
