We had some friends round earlier and chatting in the garden it occurred to us that between the three couples, all six of us had gone from being employed to self employed over the last five years. Two were now employing other people - including their own twenty something kids.
Is this the way forward? As large scale mass industrial employment is gone and never to return and youth employment at an all time high should we not be offering career training and support for people to become self employed?
think there is a number of support organizations HOT....Princes Trust and such like....thou would totally agree the more support the better.
However don't think it is the end of mass employed big companies......still plenty round....only problem is most are foreign owned and all profits go out of the country.
Cutting benefits does not move people into work. WORK moves people into work. Job Centres should be measured on how many claimants THEY get into full time jobs each year. The online application process is like spitting into the sea - a theoretical effect but no practical use.
As people get older they are more likely to take the risk as they have less to pay like mortgages and kids off their hands
nothing new really
