Confused about a few things

Just looking for clarification on a few things on the site:

1. Meets - when searching meets for the latest, say couple looking for single male, the meeting date has past, but post could be moments ago. Is this just laziness in terms of not updating the post, and/or people trying to be first / at the top of the list?

2. Winks (messages) - I don’t understand these. They appear to be a catch-all message (I do receive them as a single male believe it or not), is this what they are? They appear similar to do normal messages but less personal.

3. Matches - on my home page I get a list of matches. When I click on the ones that are of interest, the profile isn’t a match at all. In fact, the profile has in bold, capitals and underscored “no single males”. Is the algorithm/matching issue, or just profile filled out incorrectly? Just wondered, I hate being seen to view a profile when the other person/people are not interested, unless it’s a really hot profile of course 😜

Question 1 is pure laziness as lots of people hope to get hits on their profile by ppl looking at "their current meet".

Or they have forgotten to update the date of meet.

Question 2

Again laziness, you will get a better response if you take the time to actually read a profile that catches your eye then send a message that marches what the profile is looking for.

99% of winks are automatically binned IMHO.

Question 3

The "match" facility only catches, what people tick they are looking for in their preferences, not what is written on their profile.

Some don't even realise they have single guys etc ticked until they are made aware of it by someone.

So 1 is actually just a terrible site feature. When a user logs in all of their meets are automatically “updated” regardless of when they were actually posted. This is pretty pointless as you can imagine and I recommend adding to the feedback posts in the other forum section to help us get this removed. I had a situation where I saw meets with my profile and I thought my account was hacked or cloned until the admin told me it was my posts from about 8 years ago.

Thanks both, makes sense and confirms what I thought the cases might be…

I have wondered about points 1 and 3 myself (having recently joined the site). Surely requiring people to add a date to meets (and them then expiring when the date has passed) would solve the issue?

I don't think there's any problem viewing an unmatched profile....how else are you going to be able to tell if they are actually a match (clearly not everyone looking for someone who matches one's basic characteristics is actually a "match"). So I don't see that as problematic personally.

I am somewhat confused about what a friend is though. On other sites being a friend with someone gives them access to friends only (private) photos. But on here I can't see what actual function or purpose it plays?
