hi all can we stop being silly and buying trolleyloads of food there is no needs to dothis and have others suffer lets work together and every 1 will have loads
The supermarkets could help by locking up all the trolleys so people can only buy what they can carry. Limiting to two of each item achieves nothing... the hoarders just load up the trolley with two of everything.
I've approached the supermarkets near me about a baskets-only policy but none of them are keen.
There are a lot of old people living alone in my area and shopping has become a terrifying experience for many of them. I wouldn't be surprised if starvation kills more of them than the virus. Food is in plentiful supply but it's being grabbed by stupid, selfish, greedy people.
i find it amazing that theres no flour on the shelves, all of a sudden every odd bod and sod has turned into Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry. Stay safe and stay home, dont buy anything more than whats essential, and supermarkets are now limiting items so it will get better. My lad works in a major supermarket, please be kind to the supermarket workers, some eejit threw a bucket of flower water at him the other day
Whilst appealing on face value, I'm not sure restricting people too much makes sense. Some families are far bigger and need a lot more than others and the main aim ought to be minimising the amount of times people need to go shopping. Also there'll be plenty of people who're out shopping for others and why should they feel victimised or have to put themselves at additional risk just because they supposedly have more stuff than it appears they might need? Those who're so selfish that they're stockpiling stuff will simply just stock up their baskets multiple times in various stores to the same end and that isn't helping anyone. There are no simple answers in this situation and we must all remain aware of the possible unintended consequences of the things we say and do.
