Who won?

That is why for me the FA cup is the greatest tournament in club football anywhere in the world...It is certainly the oldest and is a shame that when it suits them, the FA have belittled this once great trophy.
It always used to be the finale of the footballing season, Wembley 3pm kick off, but like yesterday it has to suck up to sponsors and money hence the late kick off time and bad news for people who then had to get all the way back to Manchester or worse, Wigan. The FA have sold themselves down the river for money and then want the Premier League clubs to show fair play with what they spend. Pfffftttt.
But all being said yesterday IS what makes this grand old competition the best. Lowly poor old Wigan against the might and power and money of Man City, and against all the odds beat them and deservedly so.
Well done Wigan, and I bet the old fox that is Fergie was having a snigger to himself after seeing his city neighbours get humped in the final.

Have to say that I'm sad to see that Wigan have made history by becoming the first club to win the FA Cup and be relegated in the same season. Ecstasy turning into agony within 72 hours for their fans.

i must say a very well done to Chelsea
you can help but admire that despite they have two different managers every year, their team spirit is unrivaled in any other team i have seen in the premiership.
big well done to the boys last night and thanks for bringing home another European cup to the UK

Yes well done Chelski last night and particularly well done Rafa Benitez who has handled himself with great dignity and improved the team performance in spite of the moronic people who call themselves supporters of the Club.

star despite your feelings towards benitez he was asked to interim manage a side and asked to get champions league placing ,which he did i doubt he was asked for a European trophy!!

you should at least be thankful that he even took the job, id hate to think you could have got O'Neil but saying that he has done his own CV the world of good and will come out of this as the professional he has shown his self to be
im pretty sure the manchester faithful would take that for moyes first year in charge but think the trophy room at man utd will be a little bare for the next few years

Yes. Manchester United are owned by Americans - not sure what point you are making? They have not yet made any poor decisions, they have taken down the level of debt, gave support to SAF in his transfer dealings and have taken on his recommendation for the new Manager. True Manchester United fans are not disputing the Moyes appointment - he will get the full support of the fans.
I simply stated that fans who criticise their Manager have to be moronic. Supporting your team on the pitch is all important and to criticise the Club owner for his managerial appointment is stupid. The Chelsea players were visibly supportive of Rafa, they have verbally backed him and thanked him across the news channels this morning. Just who is right and who is wrong? The owner and players of the Club or the morons who have been chanting for his head since his appointment?
Oh and Star ... You comment about Rafa being sacked... Rafa has never been sacked by Chelsea and you should not forget that Mr Abramovitch has a history of doing the unexpected. It would be a surprise to no one apart from the Chelsea "supporters" (sic) to see a surprise appointment and not what appears to be the assumed appointment.

..........
No TH pay attention now please. I never said Rafe was sacked by Chelsea, but he was sacked by Inter Milan who got rid of him midway through the 2010-2011 season. Then he stayed out of work as no club came forward for him such is the level of his success, but Chelsea came along with an " interim " post until they could find the right manager. So right from the start he was humiliated by Chelsea by announcing he was not be be the proper manager, just a stand in until something better came along. I wonder how many people would put up with that in the real job market.
I have no doubt that there is only one manager capable of managing Chelsea. Your comment about some kind of surprise appointment possibly, is a Man Utd supporter hoping and preying Jose does not return, as under Moyes who knows where Utd will go, but one thing is for sure they will not have the same levels of success under him as they did under Fergie.

You can be sure that Rafa was paid a "staggering" sum and in return he engineered a return to form of Torres and organised his team far better defensively - achieved top 4 and won silverware. This is what good managers are paid to do and he achieved success for the team in spite of moronic supporters who pressurised him (and consequently the team) at every home game.
Quote by Too Hot
The real winner from all of this is Rafa Benitez. He will be happily trousering the millions paid to him by Abramovich, sticking two fingers up at the moronic Chelski "supporters" and going on to a highly paid job where he will continue to be successful.
Quote by Too Hot
Meanwhile you want a Manager back who has already had a divorce from the Owner and so the likelihood of future fall-out is a nailed on certainty. He has been sidelined by the players of Real Madrid because of his management style and you are going to get drama akin to a soap opera. I truly don't mind Mourinho coming back to the UK as he is entertaining and a full on personality - I am just not sure why the Chelski supporters and Abramovich would prefer sideshow over stability.
Quote by Too Hot
Rafa has never been sacked by Chelsea - but Mourinho has. Another decision by the owner that was challenged by the "supporters." The irony of the post was to tell us that Rafa had been sacked in his last job but forgetting that Jose Mourinho had in fact been sacked by Chelski.
Quote by Too Hot
I hope that Mourinho does come back to Chelski because it will be a sideshow again for a couple of years until he has another fall out with the owner or key players - of which this is a certainty.

As for Manchester United - they are entering a new era with a new manager and unlike the post Busby days - the planning and continuity is more like the Shankly/Paisley transition albeit the abdication of Shankly to his Assistant was a probably a success that could never be repeated in modern football. The principal of that transition is how Man Utd have planned for this handover.

Could it all go wrong? Too right, nothing is certain in life, but good preparation and planning normally leads to a positive outcome.
