Will you be joining the prime minister?

I shall not, but only because I am not a football fan

no , cos i have no way of getting on the roof,
We have a flag, the youngest wanted one,but hunted for a proper cross of St George without England printed across other group would be so stupid they needed to be reminded of the name of the country they support?
i think it will go on the gate for England games.

funny how as soon as england play in a competition the flags come out like some loyalist estate in northern ireland.
I remember the same rubbish when england won the rugby world cup it was no different then.
All the people suddenly became massive rugby fans overnight yet never watch a game until the final.
yet as soon as the competition is over or when the team is kicked out the drunken fights begin, flags come down and start slagging everything of again about this country.

St Oswalds cross on my car, maybe a cross of St David on the house - although last time I got one of those out the local fuckwits asked if it was a Polish flag.....
Nice to know the Cleggeron really does think he's Prime Minister of England though....

Yes a very poor slip indeed, Freudian?

My house isnt posh enough to have a flag pole on the roof, so my flag (without England written across it 'cos I am clever enough to know which country it represents) is hanging in my front bedroom window.
btw, liked the cartoon in todays Telegraph. Dad talking to his children 'At some point in the next few weeks you are going to see Daddy cry . . .'

I think the BNP used the flag and Spitfire to represent themselves in the media. Slight but subtle difference.
The thing that made me laugh about it was that the flag represents a Turk and the Spitfire was from a Polish squadron.........I just love the BNP's clangers

I think its odd that the Saint Georges Cross flag is not flown by people on or around Staint Georges Day the patron saint of England for patriotic reasons but it is flown during the world cup to celebrate football. I will be flying the flag next Saint Georges Day and have no interest in footy.

I dont venture into the current affairs forum much so I have only just noticed this thread.
I think its awful that the PM has a St Georges Cross flag flying at !! The Union Flag should be flying at No. 10 and no other!! He is the PM for Great Britain, not just England!! Why should they change the flag at just because of the world cup??
Our son has a Union Flag as well as a St. Georges Cross on his bedroom walls all of the time (his choice). As a family we are quite patriotic but I'm not sure if a militarty background has something to do with this?
We're more of a rugby household than football and so wont be watching much of the football although I'm sure the England games will be watched.
English people need to learn to be more like the Scots, Welsh and Irish. They are all so patriotic. In England, St. Patricks day is celebrated more than St. Georges day (just because its a piss up) and the only time anyone gets the St Georges Cross out is for sporting events. Sad really!
The thing is Fun the St Georges flag is associated with the England football team.
So if the PM was showing support for that team in the World cup, then that is the right flag to fly.
IF Scotland had qualified ( lol )I am sure the Scottish Parlaiment would have flown the Scottish flag, certainly not the Union Jack.
The Union Jack represents GB and not England, that is where the difference lies.
I do not think you will see any Union Jack flags being waved the next time England play....which is Friday at btw wink

Yeah, I get that ... but ......
Scottish parliament is exactly that, it's the Scottish Parliament so they should be flying the Scottish flag anyway ... they're Scottish!!
No 10 however, is about Great Britain, not just England and so no matter if the world cup is on or not, the Union Flag should be flying (I believe its only the Union Jack flag if its flying on a ship). If No 10 was just the PM's house that would be different but its not!!
I just know I'm going to regret starting this debate with you Kenty!! :sparring: :scared:

Me and your that lovely wife of yours can ...... errrrrrm ...... Oh, I'm sure we can find something to occupy our time :rascal:

I am sure me and Mr Fun would put the debating to one side for a few hours, and concentrate on the task in hand. lol
