I think Id like to give all school kids the option of free school dinners.
Id like all mums or dads to be able to afford to be with their kids until they start school.
Id like free child care for those who wish to work.
Aint gonna happen tho is it --sadly.

Now I dont think 2 yr olds should be in childcare for more than a couple of hours a week,so to hear at a time when services are being cut that the govt is going to fund 10 hrs a week for 2 yr olds has got me going mad
I am sure we could all think of a better use for the money, personally id like to see increased health visitors, more breast feeding support and a swingers club in my village.
some one convince me Im wrong

It ain't gonna happen...and here is why.
The numbers of places will decrease because of this. There are only enough places because there is only so many staff at each nursery.
IF the numbers were to increase, they would have to increase the staff, as you need one adult to four kids ratio.
If they increase the hours less kids will be able to attend.
To become a pre school supervisor or a nursery supervisor, you have to attain a level 3 which takes about 2 years.
They neither have the additional staff, or the places.
The only way this could possibly happen is if they decrease the number places, and seeing as I think ALL children are entitled to a place, the maths do not add up....but then again Brown cannot spell. wink
I dont see anything wrong with 10 hours a week for a 2 year old to go to nursery. Some of us arent lucky enough to have family or friends around us so the only way my children mixed with other children was if I paid for them to go to one and unfortunately I didnt have the money. That works out at 2 hours a day, 2 hours of social time for the child and a well deserved break for the parent.
My 10 year old went to nursery full time from the age of 6 months to 3 years and is far more social than my son who didnt have the choice and spent 24/7 with me for the first 3 years of his life.
However if I had the choice of where the money should be spent, respite care for those with disabled children. My son is disabled he sleep 3-4 hours a night but its split into an hour here and there. In the past 3 months the only decent nights sleep I have had is when he goes to his dads every other weekend for 45 hours.
Currently school meals are £2 per children thats £4 a day, according to Jamie Oliver you can cook a meal for 4 for £5 a day so why are school meals so expensive.
i really worry about what is happening to kids these days.
times ago i could go out the whole day and my parents didnt worry or really care where i it got dark or i wanted something to eat id soon show up.
but now we wrap up kids so tightly they are not allowed to express cannot go anywhere because we are rendered on edge that a nutter is waiting to drag them off.
some of the parenting i see is at the kids and just seem interesting in drinking heavy and having a bust up in front of them.
and then kids get sex education when they are still kids ffs.
what is going on in the world!
