What is the benefit of being friends with a person on here? I see no possible advantage, yet we get friends requests every day. Usually from people we have never had contact with.
Now before this turns into a squabble about how to deal with random friends requests I understand the value when the site gives you more. But as far as we can tell the site barely benefits us at all in respect of friends requests.
I see your reasoning dawnie.
Well we never bothered til there was shrep n then we did solely for folk we had met or were intending to meet.
I clicked on where it says 'Friends' on the left but it just said none of my (28) friends are online. Do you get more stuff if they are online?
I found on other sites I used friends in the same way Lilith says. Though as I have been on here about a week I have a grand total of zero friends!
Though I do hope to rectify that someday...
Sorry to get away from the thread slightly, but I just wondered if I could have a friend? and if I did would it cost me extra? I used to have a friend when I was at school...but then his mum told him he shouldn't have anything more to do with me....and she didn't like the way I looked at his sister.
All of the above seem relevant, but when you get in the realm of hundreds or possibly thousands of friends I just don't see the point.
Likewise I don't see the point in sending friends requests to people you have never spoken too; Does anyone else?
Does being friends mean that private photos are viewable? If so maybe that's why people send friend requests?
Or maybe it's just a kind of 'bookmarking' thing, so that people can contact each other more easily (personally I find the search facility on here isn't that effective, so being friends with someone would simplify that process).
That said, I ignore pretty much all friend requests. Especially those from people we've had no contact with - which is % of them.
