Well at least another bit of common sense has prevailed.

I watched those thugs on the telly attacking everything and anything that moved....all hyped up by multi coloured hat hippy graduates.
Everytime a G20 protest happens the same bunch of anarchists appear from the woodwork. The Police have an impossible job of trying to contain law and order, whilst being pelted with God knows what.
This police officer acted as anybody would in a highly volatile situation....faced with baying animals supposedly there peacefully.
He has been acquitted and rightly so....maybe next time one of these so called protesters want a day off from college, they may well think twice about their violent behavior?
Must admit kenty, don't agree with you on this one, shock horror!!! wink
From the video ive seen, I think he was a bit OTT.
Shock horror indeedy Browning. wink
Sorry they were there for trouble and she bit off certainly more than she could chew....no sympathy whatsoever for her, and the courts agreed which to me is the most important thing.

I'm with Browning on this.....he was totally OTT. She would have been able to do a lot of damage with a carton of orange juice....not!
but the copper shouldn't have behaved like 'anyone else' though should he?
he should have behaved like a police officer.
so, the courts get another there.
should we agree with the courts or not?
it appears to be a variable depending on our viewpoint at the time.
am I right?
lp
I think he looked a bit jumpy and was on edge. In the heat of the protest he lost his control.
The woman is probably a professioanl protester and quite capable of pushing any situation, to get some kind of controversial response.
So ideal partners.
Looking at tv footage of this and especially other G20 protests, I am suprised at our Police forces restraint.
Abroad they tear gas and beat protesters with very little chance of any officer being prosecuted.
These marches for some are just a way of goading and deliberately attacking the police, and I cannot blame them for losing it in the heat of a very hot moment.
IF the protests were non violent then this kind of incident would not happen, but where protesters set out to cause the upmost aggro, is it any wonder the police lose their cool?
I would not want to be a copper for love nor money, but I am glad that there are some out there ready to put themselves into the firing line of in some cases, nothing more than a bunch of animals.
Plus no suprise that this woman then hired Max Clifford to cut a deal with a newspaper for £26 grand. Of course she was not looking to gain anything from that was she? Yeah right...she made the most of it and lost. For her it was only ever about what she could gain from it, money wise. I think that must have secretly played on the minds of the court.
I wonder if she complained to The Met first before she went to Max Clifford?
But said PC Blackadder "It was a viciously sharp carton of orange juice your honour".
I assume few of the contributors to this forum have much personal experience of how police handle peaceful protests. I have. The police are a nightmare in these situations. Their behaviour attitude and "overthetopness" has to be seen to be believed. Anybody would think that peaceful protest was illegal.
nice upskirt pic

I saw more than enough to convince me this was far from peaceful!!!!!!!!!!
How did I know you was going to say what you did?
People slag off the police UNTIL they need them for their own purpose.
Tell ya what the next time there is a demo like a G20, lets not send any police to mantain order. Yeah it would be lovely and peaceful, everyone would be well behaved and certainly no windows would be smashed.
Without the police it would be anarchy, but then again most of those supposed demonstrators are anarchists anyway. Hell bent on causing as much trouble as possible, and yet SOME would still blame the police..........shame on people who blame the police for trying to keep order when all around them are trying to do the opposite.
Ah poor little protesters not being allowed to have their human right to march peacefully. I can easily show anyone footage readily available on You Tube, showing how much violence and intimidation the police had to suffer.

rolleyes Because you yourself Kent are such an unpredictable poster...

I watched that video and the amazing thing to me is, those people obviously do not work. They hate the " system " yet I wonder what they did for money?
Yes hate the system but love to pick up their benefit money every fortnight....some things never change.
Examples of what the police have to deal with from thugs, that call themselves peaceful protesters!!

And nobody had better try to sell newspapers on the day that our, mostly professional but occasionally one or two unprofessional, police officers are maintaining law and order.

All assumptions !!!
But the scary thing is .....you think they deserve to be beaten up by the police !!!
Or am I making assumptions ????
Assumption.
Or are YOU saying the police have to take violence dished out to them and keep their hands behind their backs?
Or is that an Assumption?
I saw it all .....she killed him twice in cold blood
I always thought the law stated you had a right to defend yourself? Are the police exempt from that law now then?
IF a police officer is being attacked, what would you suggest they do then? Run away?
The law even states that IF you THINK you are going to be attacked, you have a right to defend yourself.

This sums it up......" they may inflict violence and/or use weapons to do so ".
IF it goes to court that court will decide " Was the force used by the individual reasonable in the circumstances as he or she believed them to be "?
The court obviously decided it was....don't like the outcome then take it up with a solicitor.
I still remember Orgreave...army in police uniforms...numbers removed to avoid identification....baton charges.....self defence my arse
I believe the officer has been acquitted of a crime. I believe he may still be facing disciplinary action.
If anybody wants a giggle check out the injuries widely reported in the press to have been suffered by the police at the Kingsnorth protest camp. It turned out after questions in parliament that none of them were caused by protesters and that injuries included wasp stings, sun burn and getting cut on a barbed wire fence.
And at the risk of being predictable I think violent protesters should face the full force of the law. I simply think violent police officers should too. I also think that peaceful protest is much nicer than riots and terrorism.
No it is NOT right for that to happen.
I am certainly not a huge fan of police at riot situations, I have seen it many times at football matches where violence is made worse by the police. But the thread was really about a riot officer being found not guilty of assaulting a peaceful protester.
Nothing in this world is perfect, not even me lol , but sometimes the police are put in situations they are frightening to say the least, and as I have proved they like anyone else have a right to self defence, and the court in this situation obviously agree.
May I respectfully say ben ...bollocks
Revolution now
I have alot of respect for my local police but that Mr Smellie overracted but finding him guilty could have affected policing protests to come so the courts had to do the right thing!
firstly a big hello to everyone
These g20 protesters are protesting about something which is very important to every human being on this planet, its just they got the "lets try and stop it" attitude and the rest of us will worry when its too late. Im talking about globalisation, a one world government, a one world bank and a one world army. For those of you not in the know how, world governments want globalisation with all us citezens microchipped, then they will do away with paper and coin money and all transactions will be done through your personal microchip. Then when you try to protest about anything the world government will freeze your microchip and you will not be able to work, buy or sell anything "total control of the masses". Is this really what you want? Many world leaders (this is recorded and can be found...try looking on youtube)want A NEW WORLD ORDER, The 2 Bushes, and also Gordon Brown has publicly said this. These instigators of THE NEW WORLD ORDER has done more terrorism acts than any other terrorist organisations on the planet put together, what i hate about it is the way they are blaming muslims for this and its actually the elite of western governments which are the true terrorists. They tell us Muslim terrorists flew a plane into the pentagon yet there is no video evidence of a plane hitting the pentagon and guess what.....no wreckage, look at lockerbie and see the hole in the ground the plane made and the wreckage of the plane is visable over a wide area, yet the pentagon only had a scorch mark on the grass (no crater) and no wreckage. If you look at footage of the twin towers and slow the video down you will see clearly what looks like a large bomb strapped to the underside of the plane, IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME GO AND LOOK YOURSELF AT THE VIDEO. I believe that these terrorist acts were deliberately planned to remove the freedom of the people by allowing the governments to bring in their new anti terror laws which coincedently removes a lot of our freedom. I hope i live long enough to see these elite stopped and brought to justice, and the people of our planet regain the freedom they deserve. So when i see these g20 protestors i dont see yobs or stupid uni nuts who got nothing else to do i see martyrs who got more bottle than the rest of us cattle who are letting the elite win.
Blimey your not Gulson in disguise are you?
We have done the conspiracy theories on here, and I have come to the conclusion they are all bollox. lol

Seriously - do you think that if there was some sort of conspiracy of the kind you are suggesting, that they would have to strap an bomb on the OUTSIDE of a plane that will be visible to any person who happened to look up?
Get real. For a start, passenger aircraft have plenty of space to put explosives in. Secondly, anyone in a position to strap a bomb on the outside is in a better position to fit one inside and finally, there was no need for explosives, the planes did a perfectly good job just as they were.
Now, I reckon the various governments are well capable of making the most of these events for their own purposes. They are even capable of fitting explosives to planes - and I wouldn't necessarilly put it past them. But if you are going to buy in to conspiracy theories it is necessary to apply some basic critical analysis to what they are claiming.
One thing that does intrigue me - just WHY do the various governments all want to remove our freedoms? If we assume there is no actual terrorist threat - what is the reasoning behind the removal of freedoms? Or isn't that covered by the Consiracy Spotters Handbook?
(You may have noticed I'm not taking you too seriously here.)
Hi
have you actually looked at the twin towers footage? if so what the hell is stuck underneath that plane, i have never seen anything like that on any public commercial plane.
|Where is the pentagon planes wreckage? where is the hole in the ground the plane would have left? How come Kennedy accidently got killed not long after his famous speech where he claimed he was going to dismantle the cia as he believed a secret society within a government was the opposite to democrocy? Please look at the plane footage of the towers and then tell me there was nothing strapped to that plane. Please look at the aftermath footage of the pentagon and tell me you honestly believe an aroplane crashed there but left not even a bean can size piece of debris. the other plane that came down somewhere in Pensylvania again left no crater only a scorch mark on the ground and again no debris. Anyone reading this please look at the footage closely and then comment on this.

Yep your absolutely right,i've just watched it myself, i can make out what looks like a big round bomb strapped to the bottom, with some words written on it...i think it was TNT and if you look close enough into the cock pit you can just make out The Coyote flying the plane who appears to be on a collision course with The Roadrunner who is speeding up the side of one of the Towers...apparently Elma Fudd destroyed the other Tower chasing Bugs Bunny!
That wouldn't be a hint of disbelief I detect there would it Mr Powers ???
