Horrible. Absolutely horrible.
Images from French news feeds show just how inhospitable this area is and all credit to the French Emergency Services finding (at least one of) the black box flight recorders so quickly.
Let's hope the investigators can find out quickly what went wrong.
Thoughts are with the relatives of the 150 victims.
Can't even begin to imagine what terror those victims were experiencing during that 8 minute descent into the Alps ;(
Love and Light to all directly and indirectly involved in this tragic event - and as always huge credit to the rescue teams involved in such an inhospitable terrain
i make and supply aircraft parts and each time something like this happens your thumbing through the order books to see if you made something that went on the crashed aircraft.
some of the passengers would have suffered a heart attack before the plane hit the mountain side if the rapid descent was anything like being described.
these planes can fly on one engine very easily and it is rare for a complete engine they are designed to glide in complete engine failure so the pilot can find somewhere to land.
something terrible must have happened as no radio call was made by the pilot, the stress on him and his crew must have been incredible if they had time to fight it.
Being a pilot myself it is your worst nightmare. thankfully i only fly helicopters and not responsible for lots of passengers.
Latest I heard on the radio this morning was that the pilot had been locked out of the cockpit and the data recorder showed audio of him trying to break the door down - don't know how true this is but just awful ;(
