Not quite I don't think. AFAIK it's illegal to broadcast exit polls while the polling stations are open, and it is illegal to try and influence voters in and around polling stations, but I can't find anything that says it's illegal to discuss which way you voted / intend to vote on an internet forum? confused
N x x x ;)
Everyone coming-out of the polling site was telling the sky-guy that they had voted bnp.....even the asian guy around the corner.....lots of liars about..
We will all just have to wait and see - it will be a close one to call this time round
Plim

Tosh!
The officials won't allow any discussion of choices, or electioneering whithin the polling station itself. That is the extent of any control over political discussion.
I haven't voted yet - if there isn't a queue I will be voting for whoever is the LibDem option. Seriously - do you think it's illegal for ME to tell you MY choice?

Why would i care who you vote for?
Think we have all seen the horror of a Labour think it will be close and the local polling station was the busiest I have seen it.
I hope for a high turnout as a hung Parliament will be a nightmare scenario for Britain.
Ours was quiet when I voted this morning about ish

Which law would that be then?
I know it is against the law for a radio station to talk about it, but the general public in a forum?

My point was that you were incorrect in stating that discussing it is against the law. Not that you would be interested in the result. Keep up.

And with all the talk recently of Lib Dem having a better showing than in previous attempts, I feel the exit poll will not reflect the true, final numbers.

i went to the polling station ready for change and a vote for clegg. but when push came to shove i decided fuck it im not voting for brown im voting for the party whos ethos i belive in. i suspect many more will see teh horror of a conservative government as their pencil nears the ballot paper.

people have been encouraged to use the postal vote system to save money, many will have voted before the debates, affecting the outcome.
the real story of the night is the number of people disenfranchised, tory councils have cut back on polling staff and stations, and look at the result?
Not surprised there's so many angry people tonight...
Loved this twitter from Mark Thomas lol
One ballot paper had a cock and balls in the Lib Dem box. It has been counted as a vote FOR the candidate.

I always thought you had to put a X on your paper or it was counted as spoilt?
Maybe MT is having a giggle? dunno
I didn't realise Ester Rantzon (sp) was standing? She didn't get in anyway so heavens knows why I mentioned it!! confused :?
Is this the result that was expected? Without sounding to thick (Never taken much notice till recently) what happens next.
Someone enlighten me in simple terms please.

ok kevs not up , i ll do my best tho after 5 hours sleep lol
Yes the polls have been suggesting this for a while, although the lib dems did worse than expected.
Britain has more convention than written rules, but the convention was written down recently , not labour rules but a recording of accepted practice.
The prime minister remains in place until he either conceded or looses in a vote of no is because we vote for parties not Queen "appoints " the prime minister, but in reality she will in no way appear to be political.
Right now the tories, who did not win enough votes to win out right and the labour party are both sucking up to nick clegg, who wants PR.
If Gordon conceded then this would be irrelevant,Cameron would go to the palace and be named Prime minister.
Its possible that the lib dems will ally with labour on the grounds that brown resign as leader of the we gambled kev was going to put a sneaky £10 on milliband as the next pm a few weeks ago,as we stood to win 5oo quid.
Most likely scenario?
i think, and its speculation,a tory minority govenment with support from the lib dems only if they get electoral reform
And lots of challenged election results especially in the areas where people were unable to vote.
The Snp/dup/Greens(go caroline lucas)independants now have a lot of power.
Thank you Kaz, maybe now I shall take more notice of what's going on in the big wide world and start watching the news a little more, I saw the bit this morning regarding people unable to vote, will anything be able to be done or will it be wept under the carpet I wonder.

Just had a google at Sheffield and Lewisham councils. One is Lib Dem and the other is Labour.
Are you sure they are Tory councils that have cut back that has caused this problem or are you guessing? Have to get to work so can't google anymore councils but the main areas were Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham, and these are not Tory heartland areas so I doubt they are Tory run councils

There were problems in Newcastle too and the council is LibDem, not Tory.
