My birthday yesterday, I was working, so went out for an indian tonight.
Went with 3 members of my family, might as well of stayed indoors, they spent most of the meal on facebook on thier poxy i phones!!
When we left the indian we went to the pub, same thing. Looking around the pub, nearly every different group had people on thier i phones.
Whilst I understand that the internet is a brilliant thing, it drives me bloody crazy when i'm in a restaurant/pub and people are on thier phones non stop.
Ive also noticed that when i'm driving, loads of people are always looking down at thier lap whilst driving, on thier phones. Had a girl about 4 months ago hit me from behind at traffic lights, she was in her mums brand new ford KA, when she got out she was very apoligetic, and addmitted she was on face book, FFS.
Poxy i phones drive me mad.
Rant over.
We went for a family meal recently (10 of us) and had a "no phones" policy at the table, social networking can be anti social as well!
I have a Samsung phone, it cost me 50p from the Vodaphone shop (when you topped up £20)
I can make calls on it, get texts. It serves me very well, I also agree people need to stop and think just when is the right time to use thier i phones the can be anti social.
My Birthday is today, we did nothing, no super meal, no friends calling or coming round, no celebration, not even a happy birthday from Sasha ...........
No need to feel sorry for me though, (no I know you probably didn't) on Friday swinging friend came round and we went out for a meal then back to ours for fun, on Saturday night we had 18 people stay over for a trip to atlantis and a Pirates party where over 60 people turned up, there were more pirates than there are off the coast of Somalia, the party contiued until past 6am back at ours.
I had a fantastic birthday and not an i phone in sight lol
I saw a really clever idea (ironically on facebook). If you go out for a meal everyone has to put their phones in the middle of the table. The first person to pick up their phone to check it is responsible for paying the bill lol
Think its rude at the table to use a phone ... i pop it on silent and leave to answer if it goes ... its a sure sign they dont really want to be there if on it all meal too. If they do it with you lot, do you pull them up for it. I do, and have left the restaurant if they still keep using it too.
Belated happy birthday too Mids, why do you only hate iphones though .. you secretly after one there eh ... just messing here ..
Hope you enjoyed your bday and earlier too.

People now Browning just lack basic social interacting skills.
People find it difficult in many cases to communicate unless it is from one of those horrid social networking things. I see it all the time in all walks of life, and can you imagine how difficult it is for schools to keep kids off their phones during school hours?
But the funniest thing is people who invested in that shite Facebook shares thinking they were onto a winner.
People who use that other absolute rubbish networking thing Twitter really are just that......twits and if the cap fits. You should have just walked out Browning as I am sure they were not all on their phones because you are boring..........did they? lol

A variation on the 'keys' swinging parties in the 70’s....
Abigail's Party et al.

Thats brilliant - think im gonna adopt this policy next time i go out for a meal - not that i ever go banghead but it does drive me crackers when my teenager is permanently plugged into her blackberry while we are out, im thinking of having it surgically removed from her

The variation of that I saw was "phones face down on the table.... first one to succumb pays the tip". That might be more of a threat to a teen because they probably think you wouldn't make them pay the whole bill. ;)

To teach ado's a lesson, why not pre arrange with the 'management' that the ado's can't pay the bill so they will have to wash up in the kitchen to pay off the bill (already having been covered by the parents) just to teach them a lesson...

I like that idea  I'm sure there's silly health and safety laws that would prevent them from doing this though. It just hasn't been the same since they made child labour illegal... wink

But, that's the beauty of it.
It's never intended that they will actually do the washing up but the expressions on their faces will be priceless!
Captured and threatened to be posted on their favoured social networking site should bring them into line....
