Will he be sacked? Will he be pushed? is it constructive dismissal if he is sacked?
At the time of posting over 500,000 signatures supporting him?
I dont think his comment re the nursery rhyme was him being racist, neither do I think his 'slope' comment was offensive and it certainly wasn't his fault re the number plates in Argentina.
It's either durn good publicity or it's those above trying to get him out, either way I hope it ends in failure.
It seems that it was an argument at work, nothing more than that so should be dealt with accordingly, not form part of the national headlines to the point where even the PM has to have his say.
I like Clarkson, he and his co-presenters make the show the success that it is, they are the perfect combination and work each other so well.
No presenter should be bigger than the show but in Clarksons case it's a close call and for me personally and should be be removed I most likely will not watch the show again.
Top Gear is Jeremy Clarkson
Have to agree with you there Toots, he is a buffoon, but that makes it so watchable.
I hope this gets sorted soon or lese they have lost another viewer, the BBC is really pandering to the lefties with this one.
i dont watch top gear but all these incidents do is add to the programmes already large popularity.
Didn't he take a swipe at one of the producers? dunno
I know there are a few managers in my company that I'd like to punch in the face. I wonder if I'd get 500k supporters petitioning my employers if I did? If he did it - he should face the consequences like any other mere mortal.
If he did what is being reported (hit a producer) then he should be sacked.
If i or anyone else at my workplace hit another person there then we would be sacked and i would imagine that is the same rule at most work places.
I used to watch Top Gear but havn't watched it for ages now as i found it to be boring in the end as each episode is roughly the same as all the other.
I prefer the other presenters too and if JK does get sacked then i might watch it with a new presenter there to see if it is more interesting now.
Although to be honest i find most telli boring anyway !
i dont like the way the prime minister has waded into this.
saying his kids watch it and he likes clarkson.
dont we remember he also liked andy coulson who he gave a top job too and was later found guilty in the phone hacking trial?
the pm should keep his nose out and run the bloody country instead.
Cameron has got involved because he is a personal friend of Clarkson and they are both members of the Chipping Norton dinner party set. Telly Tory Kirstie Allsopp was on the box last night defending it because her children watch it too. Odd, I didn't realise that Top Gear was a children's programme. Always seemed more of a documentary about male mid-life crisis to me...
In the words of James May "He's a bit of knob - but I like him"
As for Cameron getting involved - is there a general election looming or summat dunno he's stuck his oar in to get votes no doubt!!
hashtag BringBackClarkson :taz: :taz:
PS He is the double of my eldest brother both in looks and his personality so I can't help but like him

If correct, what a total arrogant person he is. Throws a tantrum because he can't get a steak.....and punches a fellow worker. Anyone else that would thump a fellow work mate would get sacked without question. If correct he deserves the sack. Lets face it Top Gear now is a programme for people that think being politically incorrect is funny !! Have to say I don't !!
I can't think of one example of political incorrectness on Top Gear - maybe some banter but not what could be construed as racist or defamatory comments about others - Maybe he is a bit of an idiot, but don't we all have idiot moments??? Of course if he punched a work colleague he should be sacked, it goes without saying - lets hope they hurry up with their investigation and get back to Top Gear, Gary Linekar is gutted coz they have suspended his episode - poor love.
Three middle aged men being a bit arsey in their comments over a few posh cars (and the occasional normal priced car) - adapting cars to run on traintracks, or to use as ambulances, swinging reliant robins round corners - its a giggle!!! I cant remember anyone kicking up a stink about the cast of *Grumpy Old Men* when that was primetime viewing - half of that programme was commens so politically incorrect they were cringy surprised
Why people can't let others have an opinion without proceeding to disrespect that opinion I will never be able to fathom rolleyes
Love it or hate it - Top Gear brings in millions for the Beeb and I love watching it :P
From what I've read, Clarkson didn't punch the producer, it was "handbags at 10 paces" at best. The producer didn't make a complaint and it was put down to a long, fraught day of shooting the new episode of Top Gear.
The Controller Of BBC1, a bloke called Danny Cohen, wants Clarkson gone. Jezza is everything Cohen despises. An opinionated, middle class, unapologetic, tory voter.
Maybe Channel 4 are lining themselves up to have JC present an alternative...
Truth be known, the BBC are in a deep crisis and staffed by too many liberal apologists. It should be broken up and the licence fee scrapped.

If Clarkson goes anywhere, it'll be Sky, in my opinion.
He already writes columns for The Sun and The Sunday Times, so he already has an 'in' with the Murdoch empire.

OOops.. senior moment there... Sky is what I meant to say but perversely it came out as Channel 4 (maybe because sky is in my freeview list in position 4 dunno :embarrased:

Absolutely, regularly 6+ million viewers each week tune in to watch BBC 's most popular programme with millions more world wide, voted into the Guinness Book of Records 2012 as being the most watched factual programme in the World.
Of course there are some too miserable/blinkered to see the humor but their loss ( I picture them remonstrating with the screen or violently shaking the remote when JC goes off on one 'oh thats so not funny' *grinning* their loss, millions world wide can't all be wrong.
One would hope he's not sacked, he's a class act and a talent the BBC would miss as would his huge fan base.
Far too much attention is given to the PC Brigade, they wont be satisfied until the likes Songs of Praise replaces Eastenders at prime time or where humour, all humour is replaced by solemn looking presenters with monologue tones talking about the state of the economy or lecturing us on why we shouldn't be smoking/spanking our children/having fun. Boring........zzzzZZZZZzzzzz
Jezza Jezza Jezza Jezza (oh, think that's the wrong show )
I'm not miserable or blinkered but i don't find the programe funny nowadays, after watching it for a while it all got to be very "samey", i now find it boring rather than funny.
Many people do like it but then many people like reality shows and soaps too and i don't understand those interests either.
Good job we are all different and like different things smile
I have to admit, I do have a penchant for the double entendre and JC is a master of the art.
That mention of the bridge having a slope on it was a classic... and quite educational! I never knew up to that point about the hidden meaning (and nor, do I suspect did many others including the peoples to whom the mention referenced).
no Nellie you are not miserable and blinkered. You have a right to your view as does anyone else. See link below...using the N word....calling an Asian a slope....saying cars were made for gays...saying lorry drivers kill prostitutes......NO..I don't find it funny either. Each to their own I guess.
But that's not what he is being sacked for. If and I say if, as I only read what has been written same as anyone else, he thumped a fellow co-worker, then same as in any other walk of life you should be sacked. No place for personal violence in the work place in my book.
Reminds me of football a bit. At one time waving an inflatable banana at a black player was considered banter and funny. Last week at the match, the Wolves played Brighton. One guy constantly kept shouting " wheres your handbag " and " Go home and bum your boyfriend why don't ya " Obviously referring to the large gay community in Brighton. Some laughed, I and two others told him to shut up with his homophobic comments. He said it was just banter and just a laugh. Maybe it was in the 1970's, but thankfully I hope we as a society have moved on.
If you are in any doubt about above comments by Mr Clarkson...please see telegraphs 60 sec clip.

are they really funny

Strange humour? , JC makes 'comments' you don't like and yet where Ronnie Biggs a thief and part of gang where a man Jack Mills was hit so hard he never quite recovered from the injury 'but you can't help finding a smile (Biggs) on his face when' you hear about him and how he got away with things for so long'
I guess your 'smiling' wouldn't sit so well with Jack Mills son who says:
I deeply resent those, including Biggs, who have made money from my father's death
http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/swingers-forum/viewtopic/419869.html
here we go again, diverting from your own comments....as you can see yes that was a comment made in 2013...you must have trolled for hours in your endless search!!!!...it was about Ronnie Briggs...and I said a can't help but raise a smile at the way he avoided the police ( not at his crime ). I also said the crime was not victimless....I went on to ask peoples opinion if he was a loveable rogue or nasty villain.
Although not the full term, he did do, some time for his crime. As always stated, I oppose any acts of violence and I strongly condemn the actions of the train robbers and the violence they used.
Now back to subject. No I don't find the clips as shown, funny. Not knocking anyone that does....but I don't. I think it is a 1970's brand of humour, and I like to think that I have grown up enough, not to find.. calling an Asian man a Slope or by saying check mirrors kill a prostitute ..not that funny.
But as stated before...that's not what this is about. IF what we read is correct, he couldn't get a steak, blamed the producer for not booking a hot meal, and when he said he had booked a room and a meal, he promptly thumped him. The CCTV coverage that is doing the rounds, does seem to show it to be more of a back handed slap. But still if you slap a fellow co-worker, in any other walk of life, you would be sacked for gross misconduct. That's what this about....not his style of humour !!

Ahh that was then, this is now and methinks this cheeesily cheerful chappie put's a better spin on things.

Jerry jerry jerry ( methinks that's the wrong show as well )
thing i did like clarkson in was that grumpy old men series. because i am one lol
i do think the Pm is adding his bit as its close to the election and he wants to appeal to people siding with ukip that see farage as the man down the pub that would watch things like top gear.
just a popularity contest.
Or
an employee who was already on a warning, attempted to strike/punch another employee! gross misconduct end of
its always very different when you remove names wink
Interesting.
Apparently Clarkson reported himself over this incident, only a few weeks before his contract is due to expire, and just before he (and the other two presenters) were about to renew their contracts.
Is this a ruse so they can sign a new megadeal with Sky instead...?
The BBC holds the rights to Top Gear and Clarkson gets a nice hefty chunk of proceeds, so it would have to be a pretty good offer to move from the BBC.

There's no such thing as BAD publicity innocent
I seem to remember the rumble in Rhyl where the then Deputy Prime minister John Prescott chucked a punch at a egg thrower but still kept his job with Blair's comment when asked about it replied 'John is John' *smiling* Maybe that's it, Labour MP's lead by example?
I can see a pattern, Prescott 4 speeding offences, JC just the one from Oct last year
Up to over 800,000 signatures now in support of JC, what a guy!
