Not interested in the Tories, the link was about the unions falling figures.

So in summary we agree that the benfit fraud issue is almost so insignificant as to be irrlelevant?

You obviously do.
You think 800 million quid is irrelevant?

nicely dismissed ben
just one thing as i politely answered your questions
if you or you family were refused health treatment specialist or otherwise due to lack of funding weather it be life threatening or not
would you be happy to accept that`s the way things are
knowing that valued funding was stolen as you say by the self employed tax payer
an honest straight talking answer please

So like I thought Rob, no evidence whatsoever. I'm not sure what the waving head things means. Anybody know anything about benefit fraud figures? With the same caveats as before of course.

according to this report the 2007/8 figure for fraud was 0.7% of the total paidout.

given that i can barely use my mobile phone it was relativly easy to find,
ohhh i wonder if i can find any tax evasion figures?
even better, someone comparing benifit fraud and tax evasion figures, this new fangled internet is a wonderful place for learning isnt it?

Benefit fraud is estimated to have cost taxpayers £800 million in the period 2006/7.
Still mere peanuts I suppose in the wider scheme.
It almost seems that because the figures are just so small, it is hardly worth getting a sweat up over it.
What is 800 million quid eh?
Buy a few hospitals and the staff to fund them maybe?
Or would help communities achieve things they cannot afford at the moment.
Have you any idea what they kind of money can buy?
Still as it is such a small ammount of money, best to just let people get away with it then.
Just think of what could have been in the coffers to claim under expenses lol
I feel that if money is being waisted it should matter to tax payers, even if it is only five pounds.
Oh, by the way, the back is much better now thanks wink

And my point was that I could find a similar graph representing Tory party support ....neither would necessarily represent the demise of the organisation in question, merely that their support waxed and waned
Well obviously Staggs IF you believe all the polls out there, it is pretty obvious that the Tories have lost support, but not as much as the Labour party have...that is pretty obvious.
I just wanted to see what the union members figures were, and was suprised that the membership has dropped quite significantly over the last few years.
That is why I originally asked the question.
If the Tories had obviously not lost support, we would not possibly be looking at a hung Parlaiment.

The demise of the unions perhaps?

Union membership fell steadily from the heyday of the later 70's and stabilised at it's current figure some years ago. It has since then gone up and down, but not to any significant degree.
I believe that the fall in membership last year can be attributed to one principal reason, the number of jobs that were lost in tradition (unionised) industries due to redundancies and workplace closures as a result of the economic recession.
The trade union organising agenda is alive and well in many unions, meaning that efforts are concentrated on growing the union, both in terms of membership but also in terms of influence and organisation. This shift in focus to the 'organising' approach over the past ten or so years is actually one of the primary reasons that membership figures stabilised.
The continued concentration on this agenda means that in the long term union membership will grow again, however external influences will always make a difference, such as a recession, which may cause fluxes in the trend.

i take it no reply is answer enough innocent
case rests :whistling:

Oddly I've found it very difficult to find any figures for the amount of tax lost to non-doms and offshore accounts....anyone would think they have something to hide.
